I'm curious to hear explanations or thoughts about this

I don't think I have ever made a political Facebook post in my life. I ignore the crazies. People do ask me stuff about COVID-19, knowing my area of work, and I answer. That's as close as it gets.

Almost never discuss politics on Facebook. My friends would be shocked I am as combative as I am here.

No Facebook for me.

I grew up on Usenet, so the Cooler is a walk in the park for me.
Unmoderated Usenet was the wild west, I visited the history sites but they were too crazy. It has been 40 years and I can still recall the unmoderated civil war group having Mark Pitcavage and the grandson (maybe great grandson) of Matthew Fontaine Maury (Confederate Navy officer) going at it like the war was still going on. But for learning anything one needed the moderated groups.

alt.* hierarchy was where it was at.

I was in the first generation of FB. It’s mostly just pictures of kids to keep up with old friends.

It definitely went downhill when they had to start making money and all the crazies & trolls came on.

Had FB for a couple months 12-13 years ago and then disabled..
Never had any interest after that in any social media. definitely causes me to be “out of the know” a lot of times but very much worth it

Initially it was a tremendous way to reconnect with people you lost touch with after HS or college. Created a lot of new traditions and events with people.

No regerts.

SIR. Please use the preferred nomenclature. SMDH.

I have a Facebook account. I have made 4 posts with the last one being over 7 years ago.

I do have a large extended family which has a group page so it makes sense for folks to post shit there for everyone to see and ignore.

Only thing that I ever post on FB is pictures... and that's the main thing that I go there. I have several friends who shoot a lot of photos and they post some on FB. The other reason I go to FB is to contact friends or classmates (some that I've not seen since I left high school).

Dang. And I thought liberals were the delicate snowflakes who couldn’t take a joke.
Hard to tell what the jokes are around here anymore, it's early, and I am grumpy.

If that was said in jest, I apologize for my grumpy reply.

Those that don't have Facebook and wear it as a badge of honor make me laugh. As if you're above it all or not able to balance the positives and the negatives of social media. You're the 'flashing 12:00 on your VCR' of this generation.

Never posted on Facebook, the cooler is crazy enough for me.
Facebook is for wine moms to post pictures of the meals they are eating and post pictures of themselves getting a covid shot. It is mostly a place for people with narcissism who have a desire to be liked. Most men do not need that and I know very few men on FB.

Facebook for me is largely to keep up with family and my kids' sports groups and teams pages. I also monitor social media for various things for my job so I have a fairly innocuous, neutral presence there.

That said, I make every effort never to post anything I wouldn't say to someone in person. Facebook is more 'what I'd say at work' and this site is more like 'what I'd say around friends or at a bar' if that makes any sense.

Had Facebook but got hacked probably 8 months ago and never tried to get it back. There's was nothing on there but pics of family that were already on my phone, so I didn't lose anything.

I can honestly say I don't miss it one bit.

Funny how you aren't on FB, but you know which men are on it.
Or, you're a lying POS.

it has nothing to do with a "badge of honor" and everything to do with what I see happen to those who live their life as zombies attached to their social media sites every moment they're awake... it's the same reason I don't play video games... I'm self aware enough to know what I could addicted to and I'd rather spend my time doing other things and talking to actual live people face to face...
