I'm not a professional talent evaluator, nor do I "play one on TV". I don't even stay at Holiday Inn Express.
I'm just a dope like the rest of us who watches film and sees big HS kids whuppin the heck out of other HS kids that are smaller than they are and envision greatness for IU football. ;-)
I evaluate basketball much better than I do football.
But in looking at the video of the DL prospects IU is recruiting, one thing is obvious. QUICKNESS.
The young man from Memphis has incredibly quick feet and reaction time for someone with his bulk.
Where Nate Hoff is physically strong and physical at the point of attack, Michael Perry can split a gap in the blink of an eye and pursues with quick feet and seemingly long arms. He's relentless.
At the DT spot (in IU's scheme), Allen Cater has a big frame, broad shoulders and excellent fundamentals. He really gets up the field, breaks down and looks at what's coming. Like Perry, he's relentless in his pursuit.
Much the same can be said for most of the kids on film.
These guys are ideal for this system and will bring an increased disruptive pressure and mobility to the defense. I'm excited to see the continued evolution.
