Disappointing

I agree with the first part of your statement; most disappointing IU basketball season ever for me. Other than Crean's first year I can't remember an IU team losing so many games on their own floor. Assembly was no advantage for this team. The crowd was ready to explode and help them tonight but each time IU came close, they backed off on D and allowed WS to get an easy score. Disappointing!!!

This goes down as the most disappointing season that I can remember in a long time as I really had high expectations for this season. Where do we go from here? I’ve been an Archie guy, but IU better do something next year or I’ll hope we go in a different direction.
I'll say the same thing I said when the Fire Crean talk started. If you are going to fire a guy you better have a slam dunk coach waiting in the wings.

Davis getting a contract extension after Knights seniors went to the NC was the beginning of MANY disapointing seasons.
Add this one to the books.

This was more disappointing than when we beat the #3 and 2 teams in the country back to back and then missed the tournament and declined our home game in the NIT?

Oh, ok.

Never has an IU team underachieved this bad in my 65+ years. And next year will be worse.

Why do we have to let this blow up in our faces before making a change?

Next season looks no better folks
My exact thought. We missed out on Keion Brooks Jr. We won’t be getting a commitment from Trendon Watford, Lester Quinones or Harlond Beverly. We lose Juwan Morgan and Romeo Langford. Oh, and we still won’t have any consistent shooters. Given that circumstance, I’d love to hear an argument as to how this program will produce better results next season.

Do you really expect that, we need to cut ties, he has 1 recruit, another possible 1D and a shittier team. Should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER kept Clappy's recruits or Davis, who is reminiscent of George McGuigess at 50. Horrid decision, and he should be prepared to answer for it when you make as much. If none of them can play after a whole year or two, I'd submit they can't play here and he's ****ed up in the interest of not putting out a too bad initial showing.

The other 10 guys who are coming back will get better. There's your argument.

Take
Durham improved from 29% to 34% between last season and this one. Green improved from 34% to 42%.

Really. Not my fault you are too pissed or stupid to understand that sophs become juniors and juniors become seniors.
Take greens last 6 games out of that and you have one player that made a minimal amount of improvement

Why do I have to take those 6 games out? Didn't they count? Weren't they real?

If I take out Crean's worst six seasons, he is a friggin genius!

Oh yeah, like DG doesn't still make frosh mistakes and won't as a senior … or how about two years of recruiting classes that other than RL or Phinisee, can't play!

Its pretty clear in my opinion that Miller needs make the tourney at minimum next year otherwise, I think he risks losing most of the support of the fanbase.

Is that likely or plausible? I dont know. I do certainly hope next years team pleasantly surprises everyone.

As far as this season goes, it is absolutely inexplicable how much things went south compared to where this team was at the start of the calendar year. In 3 months time, I have personally gone from feeling the good about the long term direction of the program to having some serious reservations/questions as to where this thing is ultimately headed with CAM.

With regards to Indiana being an elite program, sadly with each passing season of mediocrity, the ship sails further to the point where I dont know if things can return where they used to be. In the end, the administration wants to win only a certain way with certain qualifiers and I think that has come back to haunt and hurt the mens bball program

Gives a false reality of greens shooting. He finished at 42% but didn’t shoot that all year, was bad for most of year then got very hot

Odle and Fife? Um, I think it was Davis’ sophomore, Jeffries, who carried the team to the NC game.

Of course I know that. That's a different question than was asked. Don't move the goalposts. Yaderp.

That's where I am. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. The best of the RMK era defined IU basketball for me. We've been so far from that for so long I don't see a quick way back especially with this administration. So I'll give Archie another year or two, it doesn't really make a difference to me at this point.

Davis getting hired to coach one of the most prestigious programs in the country with zero coaching experience for very obvious reasons is when it became very evident that IU BB was never going to be as great as it once was. And as long as we have an AD that does videos asking fans to report any suspicious activity and an Administration that believes in self reporting, we will NEVER compete in the current state of NCAA athletics. If you aren't cheating you aren't trying has never been as true as it is now in NCAA athletics. It's all a shammockery, lol. We will continue to be a squeaky clean program that doesn't go to the tourney or bowl games. Especially as long as rich morons continue to donate money to improve our facilities. In the Admin's eyes there is nothing wrong. Making money and avoiding lawsuits = successful athletic program.

IU might as well play on a neutral court. The team acts like there is no home court advantage. Is it too late to start planning to play in the MAC? Hell, IU would be a mid-level finisher in that conference. Fred and his clown posse cannot be gone soon enough. Get a real AD in here and take “Sheldon” the President and his science projects with him. That guy stole money earmarked for athletics and put it toward his goofy academic follies.

We're all disappointed. I'm wiling to give Archie time to sort it out but he needs to acknowledge they are not close today. Whether it is his coaching style, his assistants, team chemistry, roster makeup, or whatever the reason - it's not close. Give him credit for improved recruiting but it has to turn into wins.

Big picture - He has to see by now that you cannot, you will not, win consistently in the B1G with 1 legit PG, zero shooters, and an undersized frontcourt. Beyond that you better have at least a couple players on the bench that can actually help you because there will be injuries. Finally, if you have multiple long term "projects" on your team you better have everything else in place.
