Did any of you know Rick Hudson from Greene County Sports?

The last three years or so I have enjoyed watching Greene County Sports with Rick Hudson and Gregg Orman. Yesterday I found out that Rick had passed away. Man, he just seemed like a good guy.

Obituary for Rick L. Hudson​


Rick L Hudson, 68, of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Bell Trace in Bloomington, IN. Rick was born August 17, 1952 to Rex and Shirley (Auten) Hudson. He married Nancy Jane (Floyd) Hudson, August 19, 1973.

He was proceeded in death by his in-laws, Roy Lee and Betty Floyd and his grandparents.

He is survived by his parents and his wife. Also survived are his daughter Carla (Ryan) Priest and son John Hudson. His grandchildren are Elizabeth Jane Priest, Lauren Hudson, Travis Priest, Maggie Hudson, and Allison Hudson. He is also survived by his sister Amy (Cameron) Gilmore, sisters-in-law Susie (Larry) Goodman and Lori (Sean) Vandeventer, and his beloved nieces and nephews Taylor (Drake) VanDeventer, Christopher Gilmore, Christy (Michael) Hilton, Elaine Hilton, Miles Hilton, Zachary Vandeventer and Megan Vandeventer. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rick was a member of the Bloomfield church of Christ, member of the Bloomfield High School class of 1971, and a 1975 Indiana University graduate. After ten years of teaching and coaching, he owned an insurance agency for over twenty years. He and Gregg Orman established Greene County Sports Network (GCSN). Rick truly loved broadcasting and being involved in covering athletic events for all Greene County student-athletes.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Bloomfield church of Christ and 9 A.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday at the church.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Bloomfield church of Christ with Brother Joshua Riggins officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.

The family wishes any memorial donations be made to your local athletic department in Rick’s name.

I didn't know Rick personally, but know a number of his family members, including his father. It's nice to have the local high school games being made available via radio or Facebook, so curious to see if/how the future broadcasts are done.

Definitely your typical local sports broadcasting team. 90% color commentary, 10% play-by-play. Cursed loudly more than once because he and Orman would go several minutes talking about things totally unrelated to the game and not tell you what the score was.
