Devonte

exactly. he is when he wants to be...he's a shoe guy even tho he's not good enough to be one...lol
I wonder if having a millionaire brother who will support him whether he succeeds or fails is a hindrance to his discipline. He has shown improvement over the years in aspects of his game, but between the ears he looks no different than as a sophomore.

Durham, on the other hand, continues to develop.

I wonder if we might not be better off sitting Brunk, starting Smith at the 4, and bringing out the big lineup from the bench to pound on backups that are less capable defensively and less capable of exploiting our lack of speed.

But that would mean more Green, not less. That isn't terribly palatable.

The metrics kinda back that up, especially on D. But there is still a lot of noise in the data from this year.

Green is just not very good.
He wasn’t - but he still had 6 rebs, 0 t/o’s!

our guards - outside of Al, last night, were not very good. Rob was terrible in the 1st half and not much better the 2nd half, Arman struggled defensively but tried.

I would say so. He knows he's set for life...also he's a crean guy. i'll be happy when all creans recruits minus Durham are gone

How can people keep dissing Brunk. He has had now 4 games in a row with double figure rebounds and other than TJD has shown the most energy game in and game out. Yes, he is not the most athletic but on a team that sorely needs players to work hard how can you bench him?

I was thinking the same thing, he's one of like 2 players that actually play hard.

Agreed.

I'd love to see Archie move Green back to a 6th man role. Let him have a Vinnie Johnson kind of role on the team. He could possibly be a spark off the bench and be more likely to be able to exploit an opponent's backup guard.

I'm not dissing him, he plays hard. But putting two slow guys out there and making one of them guard a fast guy doesn't work if the slow guy is also ineffective on offense. Brunk's post-ups aren't exactly magnificent. He might be more efficient banging on the other team's third big. Same minutes, different rotation.

We seem to be getting killed by drivers. NU seemed explosive off the dribble, and I don’t really believe that they are a particularly athletic team. It’s an odd dilemma. Our front court (Brunk, TJD and Smith) is the strength of our team. Our guards suck, But, we can’t handle teams that go small and spread us out. Even though we are better in the front court, perhaps a different rotation will help us.

I like the idea of moving Smith to the 4 because I don’t think we can afford to ever have TJD and Brunk together on the bench. Green has been a liability, but he seems to be a more reliable defender than Phin (currently), AF or AD (he’s made strides, but still seems to be a liability). It seems like offense is our biggest issue but I don’t think the data supports that. Not to mention that an improved defense would help us immensely on offense.

I think Green's the worst defender of the 4 this year. I checked the metrics and he's been way worse this year than last year. But yeah, if we go 3 guards we gotta either play Green a bunch off the bench or give time to Hunter or Damezi as 3's...or go to a 7 man rotation. None of those options are great. But this is at least partly Archie's fault. He's got two open roster spots and 1 dud on the bench that he recruited.

I know Anderson was rated ok...but how you gonna look at a kid with a set shot and think, "yeah, that'll work in the big ten."

The problem is Anderson and Hunter just aren't very good. So you sit green but we are so thin at guard then what.
