He started his show and is totally ripping the IU players and them not buying into the new system. He called the players out for their lack of effort and heart. He also ripped the players on the bench for not looking like they cared what was going on the court. He said it is all on the players and don't blame the coaching staff at all.

And he’s right

He saying what I saw last night as well. Totally true

It's very clear who is buying in and who isn't.

I think it's safe to say, when you lose to Indiana State at home, that no one is irreplaceable. PT needs to be determined by effort and not by talent on this team. We aren't cutting down nets this year anyways so we're better off laying the foundation for the type of work ethic needed to be successful through losses than trying to get as many wins as possible through talent alone.

Not listening to him today but he would hardly be the only one saying this. This was self evident in both games. Not all, but several.

Archie will handle it the way he chooses, but I know damned well what I would do and he has the perfect game coming up to do it.

Players should have to listen to a tape of the program.
Maybe they would get something out of it.
Probably not.

Morgan has looked uncomfortable from the beginning. I heard CAM comment that after being taped, Morgan said he couldn't play. I was thinking to myself that maybe he didn't want to play. I'm sure that isn't the case, but the image of the bench was fresh in my mind.

The parent of an OSU player shouldn't be that critical of an IU player.

This is the appropriate way to clean house. I’ve sincerely enjoyed watching them play the two exhibition games and the first two season games. It’s not Archie’s fault that our upperclassmen can’t contest shots and play for shot solection. I’m tired of talking about recruiting. We have good enough freshman on this team, and good players coming in next year. The Indiana basketball brand rebuild has begun. Finally.

I really liked a lot of what Dan said. He compared IU Basketball and their former players and Miami Football and their former players as far as passion and really caring what is going on.
I’m ok with Archie dumping all the players who don’t buy in. I liked what I saw out of the freshmen. I’m excited about what Archie is doing and have no doubt he’ll get us where we need to be

Way too early to deduce they’re not buying in over the results of the first two games. Miller has only had a couple weeks of full practice. Dakich just likes to troll his own show to attempt to stir up more ratings.

He also says professional athletes don’t need motivation. Bunk. Do you think the professionals at the top corporations don’t fire up their professional employees with motivational talks and/or strategies? Did Steve Jobs drive his Apple inventors/designers to be the bedt? Does the military continue to motivate their best or just settle with what they have? Every professional needs to be motivated to push past what they think they can do.

I agree. Why are we jumping on the players after 2 games. A new coach and totally new system. I wouldn’t think johnson would come back for his senior year to not buy in. Give them a chance..it willl take awhile

He should be ripping the players because there was no emotions on there faces in the game yesterday. The team of the past was up and cheering not just sitting there like they don't care.

Yes, we need more bodybuilder flexes and primal screams at the crowd following every basket. Fake demonstrations of "emotion" are all that's missing, and Miller must get this fixed immediately above all else.

I'm guessing Archie tore them a new one after the ISU game and the guys that were used to being clapped at when they played like chit got their feelings hurt. It's telling the only guys that responded were the untainted freshman. This team needs Hartman back asap.

Looking forward to watching for myself on Wednesday. First one I listened to on radio and I missed Sunday's game while traveling. I don't like some of the things I'm hearing so far and I'm not sure playing a good Seton Hall team is what we need right now.

I thought DD's analogy was a good one regarding Miami. The right coach at the right time with a historically great program can make an immediate impact. I think Archie is that guy too but he's going to need at LEAST a full year of play/coaching and recruiting before I even begin to consider criticizing anything I see. With that said. If the players are dogging it. They can transfer at mid-season and be eligible next year for some other team. That uniform is an honor and privilege.

I don't want fake emotions nor do I want a bunch of pouters on the floor... I want players who look like they're getting their college paid for by playing basketball... So smile once in a while and congratulate your team mates when they do something well...

Can we imagine what is going through the minds of the players in the 2nd half of the Howard game? After the ISU shock, after Archie Miller had a frank talk with the players, after the players had suffered some ...ahem...disciplinary drills imposed by the coaches...IU comes in to the Howard game with a new perspective on how to think and perform better. But Howard wouldn't go down.

Davis tossed up 7 missed free throws in a row. I remember that the first bunch were short. To me that says that he is tired and it was at the beginning of the game. Certainly by the end of the game the bench looked deflated. They didn't seem to be unhappy. They were just each independently quiet.

Maybe, playing a more regimented offense and the pack-line defense are not as much fun as just going out and run and gunning and taking the defense side off.

Maybe, they are reflecting on just how much focus and work they will be putting in this season. Maybe they were thinking about the difference between the first half and the second.

It's all speculation. It's not a bad thing.

I remember, over here in Dayton, there was a season where the wheels were coming off. Archie called a team meeting and had a frank talk with the players about related stuff. How teamwork really is a good thing. That the systems he had been teaching was a way for them to overcome losses and droughts. The team essentially talked it out and bought in. It worked!

I don't know how this season will go. But Archie Miller has gone through this. He knows what to do. The team is getting to know it too. Patience and practice and execution.

Two games is more than enough time to see who is and who isn’t buying into the system and giving it their all. Don’t forget that they have had weeks of practice and you get more of a sense from practices than you do games.

On the other hand, the box score indicates that Miller used exactly the same starting five in both games (Johnson, Newkirk, Morgan, Davis, Green). If he were so unhappy with the team that he tore them a new one after the ISU game, shouldn't he also juggle the starting lineup a little bit for the Howard game?

No he tore them a new one so he wanted to see how they would respond. He will stick with that lineup for a little while longer in hopes they step it up. Smith or McSwain will start for Morgan.

9 straight Indiana basketball coaches won their opener until Miller.

Dak can blame the players all season if he wants to but it won't help Miller get wins.

A coach's job is to get his team ready to play. They weren't ready. Not in the slightest.

Or, the freshman aren't ready to start and he's taking the longview. Maybe he doesn't want to perpetuate the cycle of entitlement and he's willing to take some lumps in the beginning. It's already obvious that Smith and AD are two of the best five players on this team.
