Ummm, excuse me, I'm a bit slow...huhhhh??It's looking more and more like Allen doesn't think he needs an explosive offense. Control the ball and try to win by 3.

I know that's what we all think he said. But in reality, he meant the opposite...like in...you know...opposite land. Makes sense...said no one...never...vbg.I'd be OK with that ... but I haven't read or heard or seen anything to make me think that is correct.
He has SAID he wants explosive plays at QB, RB and WR.
2 or 3, we just lost critically important experience and depth. He has an attitude alright, and who ever said he was #2 on the depth chart ?

It's a good strategy if you are Bama. Didn't work so well for us several games last year.
Excellent concept! I love examining the world through the lens of physics and the conservation of energy. His leaving really does diminish the team any way you turn it by the loss of the energy put in to getting him ready to play. From the training room, food tables, coaching focus, on and on. Any time a player like this is lost, there is a quantifiable amount of team "energy" lost with it.He took away valuable reps from the other two and his arrival caused are number three to transfer to Florida Atlantic.

This is a guy who was starting and winning for Rich Rod at a P5 school not long ago. If he dropped to 3 here, Ramsey and Penix must've had an effing awesome fall camp. I pray they remain injury-free for the next three months or we are in deep feces.I made the comment earlier, but I think it’s very plausible that he left because he was #3, not because he was #2. And reading between the lines of some of the reports from coaches, that seems like it was the case

This is also a kid who just left his second school because he was beaten out. Taylor will now be #3 , and I’m fine with that mostly because he has an unselfish attitude of “anything for the team”. Love that kid already, we need all hands on the “team” deck. This is a guy who was starting and winning for Rich Rod at a P5 school not long ago. Really didn’t want to be correct on this, but I think this says a lot more about Dawkins than it does IU. Look back at some of his interviews, “I know I won’t be handed anything, I’m just here to do anything I can to help the team” yea right.
I was told last Thursday he cleaned out his room, he wasn’t present at the scrimmage/walk through Friday and it became official yesterday. Obviously this hurts depth, but Ramsey had a great camp and Penix is the real deal just needs experience. Hopefully we don’t have a Maryland-like run of QB injuries.
I still cant believe how quickly that season and our stable of good QBs quickly went south. People still say Wilson couldn't recruit QBs...hell, we had too many then! Then boom baby...and your playing a guy so deep on the charts when he walked on the field fans went...whaaaat??
I think that was the beginning of the end for Wilson...attitudes changed.
Seriously, that is just a pot shot and that's it. Allen doesn't want to win big? Please. What about likelihood Dawkins didn't have the will to stick it out and maybe got beat out in a fair camp battle? It's looking more and more like Allen doesn't think he needs an explosive offense. Control the ball and try to win by 3.

I’m with you Johnsy. I had heard it was coming. The thing is that he was not guaranteed anything. Maybe he misread things thinking that they wouldn’t bring in a grad transfer if there wasn’t a 99.9999% chance he starts.
However, that said, he had basically dropped to #3 on the depth chart. The staff was more impressed with Penix and his command of the offense than Dawkins.
Fumbled snaps and missing open throws in practice will get you there.
I think that the staff now shifts more focus on getting Reese Taylor into increased offensive reps with the picture clear at depth in the QB position. He’s not going to be slotted for defense.
And, Penix redshirt will not happen. He’s going to play more than 4 games. That just became clear.
From July 6....this became a bit prophetic:

Got to simply move forward!
Not any players I know of...but just about everyone did...look where we ended up.I have no idea what this means...he led us to bowl games the next two years. Are you saying the players' attitudes changed?
He would get a chance unless he was #3. Who knows. He wasted a lot of time and effort. I guess he can just wait for the draft.Dawkins has to be wise enough to realize that he will get his chance. The problem with being young, though, is you rarely have the wisdom to correctly understand that.
