Left-leaning media don't want to cover all the cases of Democrats getting taken down because it would show that corruption is bipartisan, and right-leaning media don't want to cover them because it would undermine the narrative that the FBI is a politicized machine targeting only Republicans.

Interesting take. Now he's got Sean Patrick Maloney talking about how, for all their good intentions, the radical Democrats are damaging the party's standing with a majority of Americans.

Got link?

The radical anything is damaging their respective parties with the majority of Americans.

Obviously. But I do find Abrams' takes interesting. He tries to come off as, for lack of a better joke, a "radical moderate."

I'm a big fan of what NewsNation is doing, other than hiring Chris Cuomo, of course.

Is this the old WGN trying to do straight news?

I'll have to check it out. CNN worked well 30 years ago.
Why can't they take their head out of their ass and just report facts/news rather than having politics in it? Just amazing to me... or have they already jumped out of the airplane with no parachute?

Thirty years ago if you walked into a public space that had TVs, like a hotel lobby or nursing home day room or a bar (not counting sports) or an airport boarding area or a doctors' waiting room, CNN was what they were playing. Then came Fox News...

Fox has a great straight news channel on satellite radio. There must be a reason why they don’t at least stream it. Maybe everyone works in their PJ’s.

Because people won't pay for that (or watch it as much so that advertisers won't pay as much for commercials during that time slot).

They had to adjust their approach to respond to Fox’s craziness. They met it.

Can’t really put all the blame on the media. Aside from a trainwreck or a airplane crash, there is no straight news. The newsmakers spin everything. Inflation Reduction Act my ass.

It really did work well, but has morphed into MSNBC light. They have a solid fanbase that sits one click to the right of liberal nutjob. I watch it with the same filter I watch FOX with.

I can't even remember the last time I watched the news. Maybe J6. Almost all my news is "print," but good reporting there is getting harder to find.

Fox's straight news division is fine between Fox & Friends and when the opinion shows come on in the afternoon. That's just not where the money is getting viewers.

The way back genesis of it all is probably in AM talk radio in the 90s leading to the rise of talking heads. As far as the TV medium goes, it's probably CrossFire that ushered in the ultra-partisan pundit for viewers model that got us to today. If a network started going with straight news and people actually watched, competition would move the needle elsewhere, but don't hold your breath. They're giving the people what they want.
