He is a great coach. But he’s not the guy I’d want vouching for my charcter.
The truth of the matter is, everyone makes mistakes, only difference is some are more public than others. He is a great coach. But he’s not the guy I’d want vouching for my charcter.
And the seriousness of the mistakes. The truth of the matter is, everyone makes mistakes, only difference is some are more public than others.
I'm not saying that Beard should be the choice, but I bet every candidate isn't as squeaky clean as our fanbase wants them to be. Well, except May, that kid seems like a choir boy.
And the seriousness of the mistakes.
Nope, you're wrong, he's been convicted...I don't know all of the details, but it's my understanding that the charges against Beard were dropped.

They were. Read the police reports.I don't know all of the details, but it's my understanding that the charges against Beard were dropped.
I bet you think OJ was innocent too, right?Nope, you're wrong, he's been convicted...
in Zeke4ahs' mind.
He needs to be convicted of having an outdated boring offense.Nope, you're wrong, he's been convicted...

Fortunately no one on here has any say in the matter. Those are decisions for Scott Dolson, that's his job. If he doesn't consider someone as obvious and accomplished as Chris Beard, then he's not doing his job.Are we certain that Beard is an alcoholic? If so, you can't hire him if he's still drinking (people have said on here he is).
Because she wanted the charges dropped, as DV victims sometimes do. "Never charged" is NOT necessarily synonymous with "innocent."He was arrested but never charged.
For sure doesn’t mean guilty either.Because she wanted the charges dropped, as DV victims sometimes do. "Never charged" is NOT necessarily synonymous with "innocent."
So ... he's "for sure" innocent, according to you? If you say so.For sure doesn’t mean guilty either.
For sure doesn't mean innocent. For sure doesn't mean guilty. So there's indecision and unknows on it all.For sure doesn’t mean guilty either.
Honest question, would the 1990 version of Bob Knight be hired by IU in 2025?For sure doesn’t mean guilty either.
High risk, high reward, right? For sure doesn't mean innocent. For sure doesn't mean guilty. So there's indecision and unknows on it all.
Why, on earth, risk the fallout then? We've lived through what happens when risky picks blow up in your face. And we don't have to go there again. Speaking of battered wife syndrome. Damn.
I question that the "high reward" part is enough better than...May, McCasland, Drew, McCollum, etc... would be...if its better at all. He hasn't done much since the TT title game run?...High risk, high reward, right?
He beat them again at TT in 2018. Sweet 16 if I remember correctly, but in fairness Purdue had just lost Isaac Haas for the season.Beard made a name for himself nationally when he led No. 12 seed Arkansas Little-Rock to a double-overtime upset victory over No. 5 seed Purdue in the
Another reason to hire Beard.
Piss on character. I want wins. I am tired of hiring coaches that are impeccable people, but lose.He is a great coach. But he’s not the guy I’d want vouching for my charcter.
If the powers that be were serious about winning, Beard is who they’d hire.
What’s the answer? Why is his offense boring? It is averaging 77.8 pts per game.He needs to be convicted of having an outdated boring offense.
Almost nobody would likely hire him except apparently St. Johns or West VirginiaHonest question, would the 1990 version of Bob Knight be hired by IU in 2025?
We’re comparing him to OJ lolI bet you think OJ was innocent too, right?
He wasn't?I bet you think OJ was innocent too, right?
You had me at "dichotomy."JFC….the simple minds around here have created such a hilarious narrative here. “We need a good coach, not a choir boy!!”
“Who cares about character??!”
“If this administration cares about winning, we’d hire Beard….”.
IU can absolutely hire a coach *just* as good as Beard without having to risk the fallout of hiring a potential ticking time bomb. This false dichotomy that only an edgy, rough coach will get results here is super weird. It’s almost as if some people here think the secret sauce with RMK was actually his controversial off-the-court behavior. Coach K and Dean Smith did just fine without the extracurricular stuff. The list of great coaches without extra baggage is long, and no, they weren’t choir boys either.
Let them do their due diligence with Beard, and see what they find. My guess is it’s not good, or he would’ve been hired by UK or Louisville.
Calm down, it’s more the fact that any good coach brought up is “but this, but that”JFC….the simple minds around here have created such a hilarious narrative here. “We need a good coach, not a choir boy!!”

Nobody’s saying that the off-court stuff is necessary to win. That would be silly.JFC….the simple minds around here have created such a hilarious narrative here. “We need a good coach, not a choir boy!!”

What we’re saying is that (within limits) it shouldn’t stand as an obstacle to hiring the best candidate we can get. Yes, of course there are limits to that. And there’s a difference between a pattern of bad behavior and isolated incidents.
A good source? Only if you want to know how to pay players, knock up the wife of the equipment manager and pay for her abortion, or deliver hookers to his players. I'm sure I'm forgetting some of his other greatest hits.
We can? Then why haven’t we done so the past 25 years?JFC….the simple minds around here have created such a hilarious narrative here. “We need a good coach, not a choir boy!!”
