If I was Indiana I would hire him. He would bring defense to your school and he's a hell of a recruiter he would shut the state down for you guys. Just about all the top kids would go to Indiana from Indiana.

Which team do you root for? Have a hard time seeing an-ex Purdue guy at Indiana. I think he's more likely to do to U of I.

lol ...............

No thanks ..

I wouldn't mind having him here. I think he is a solid coach and good recruiter. But would he leave when PU comes open?

If it would happen, Ex-IU women's
BB Coach Sharon Versype would come to mind. As soon as Purdue would have a vacancy, he would be headed there

I think he would make a great assistant at a big program. Good recruiter and defensive specialist.

Ask yourself the three questions....

1. Winning percentage of 70%, give two years for a rebuild. He's currently around 60% but he's bounced around so much lately from Missouri State to Tennessee to California it's hard to get a gauge. Still it doesn't scream elite. He's had double digit losses every year but one. So no.

2. Is he consistently finishing at the top of his conference? Meh....Once he got a year into his role he's been top four or five with a 2nd and a 1st sprinkled in. It's better but still no.

3. Is he winning above the programs historical norm?? Pearl was much better at Tennessee (the natives were restless) and Cal has been a little better...still a 2nd tier PAC 12 team. Not sure what Cal was before he took over but his average showing at Tennessee makes me say no again on this point.

So...He's got a lot of Crean in his resume. Okay but not good enough.

Might be a good hire for Illinois since they value recruiting over coaching. Even with three sure fire first round picks last year he went 12-6 in the conference and didn't go far in the tourney.
