Cream vs the Slimeball

I would bet Cal has a LOT less ego than Crean and is a much better evaluator, developer, and mentor once they're there.

I wouldn't want your child mentored by Cal, let alone my own. He is a better game coach however.

Cal is one of the most respected coaches/mentors in the world. Loved by his former players and their parents.

He’s one of the few coaches who puts his players’ interests above his own. That’s VERY rare and makes him extremely credible. Hence his recruiting success.

Your opinions and insults are just pure bias and delusions.

Lol, speaking of bias and delusion...

That’s a sales pitch he’s used for some time. And while he may have interest in his players’ futures, make no mistake - he’s not doing this to be the Father Flanigan for the way to the NBA. He’s recruiting to win - which as long as UK is relevant nationally BBN will accept the excessive OAD.

Let’s see how committed he is to “players interest” if he goes another 2-3 years without a Final Four run while still turning over the roster every season. That happens and the Commonwealth will lose its collective minds.

Have to find one first.

He is not really that committed to the players who come in and are not ready to leave for the NBA because he want to have room for the next class of OAD

Cal can coach. Nobody can take that away from him.

...but last time I checked, Cal is still the only coach to ever have TWO Final Fours wiped out by the NCAA for cheating. He's definitely a "Players First" kind of coach. Unfortunately, he's also a "Rules Four hundred and thirty seventh" kind of coach.

So he’s been consistent for 2 decades but you think he’s going to change in the next couple years? I wouldn’t bet on that. There’s a reason the guy is universally respected in the basketball community.

There is a reason that he is spoken of so poorly of in coaching and media circles. Lots of folks will have a smirk on their faces when he goes down the next time.

He's been recruiting OAD's the last 20 years? Hell, it's only existed since 2006.

He has been consistent at UK for 2 decades? And if his “caring” for 2 decades gave him so much “credibility” that it gave him his “recruiting success”, why did he not start reeling in 5 Stars until he got to Lexington? Huh?

Again, BBN has tolerated the excessive OAD because it made UK relevant again. But it’s clear - to EVERYONE but you, anyways - his recruiting the last 4 cycles is FAR from what it was over the first 6 recruiting classes. This year isn’t looking far different from the last couple. As stated before, let’s see how committed he remains if UK goes another 2-3 trips without a Final Four run.

Whoever it was that stopped John Chaney at that presser in 94 needs to have his ass kicked.

He was one of the top recruiters at Memphis. Go back and look at his classes. Williams, Evans, Rose, etc. A lot of players from his first UK team moved from memphis.

Your bias sure won’t change any of that.

Once again, the most honest poster here. Keep up the good work friend. At Kentucky, we hated cal before he came here. Once we got to see the man himself our opinions changed. Winning cures a lot of that. Cal does a lot of good and encourages his players to do the same. If cal was in any way cheating, he would of been caught at Kentucky. Our recruiting as of late has shown that.

OK, let's do that:

RSCI - player rankings
247 sports team rankings

2001 (Team ranking – N/A)

3 Dajuan Wagner (Hired Milt as an assistant)

76 Anthony Rice

2002 (Team ranking – N/A)

72 Jeremy Hunt

2003 (Team ranking – 13th)

33 Sean Banks

2004 (Team ranking – 22nd)

15 Darius Washington

2005 (Team ranking – 6th)

27 Shawne Williams

41 Chris Douglas-Roberts

58 Shawn Taggart

66 Antonio Anderson

2006 (Team ranking – 24th)

41 Willie Kemp

72 Pierre Niles

84 Doneal Mack

2007 (Team ranking – 41th)

5 Derrick Rose

2008 (Team ranking – 4th)

3 Tyreke Evans

T15 Elliot Williams

8 Wesley Witherspoon

54 Angel Garcia

78 Matt Simpkins

Five 5 star recruits during his time at Memphis (He did have Boogie committed, who then followed him to UK). That's it. As a comparison, Kentucky has had 16 (Sixteen) 5 Stars since 2015 – over 5 times as many from when Cal was in Memphis, not to mention the 22 other 5 Stars from 2009-2014.

And you’re comparing the above to Kentucky? Really?

He also had 5 stars Rose, Williams, and Evans.

Bringing in multiple top 10 classes isn’t easy.

Check your facts again and get back with me.

Check my facts? ROSE, EVANS and WILLIAMS were listed!!

Multiple? As in TWO?? 4th & 6th? I mean, I gave you the damn links to the player and team ranking - and you want me to check the facts? You think they’re going to somehow change?

John Calipari recruited well at Memphis. He recruited nothing there like he has at UK. And the whole “players first” is self serving BS. Did he care about Charles Matthews? Kyle Wiltjer? Marcus Lee? Or did he recruit over them?

But, hey, you keep drinking that KoolAid. The rest of us can see him for what he is.

You can’t care about the kids and recruit over them? You shouldn’t get the best competition possible to have them compete with? That’s why the recruits love it. They go there to play with the best, not run from the best.

And yes he cared about guys like Wiltjer. Helped him find a great fit at Gonzaga. You’re lost man.
