One reason (of many) I hope Wilson survives is I think we are on the cusp of finally having a legit/solid D. I think the hiring of Knorr is already paying dividends and will continue to do so this year and in the future. Additionally it has been impressive the upgrade in talent we are landing on D. On that side of the ball we are consistently landing players who have legit BCS offers (Scales, Gooch, etc.). I think our front 7 will be good this year and our LB's have real potential. The best thing is most of the unit is still young but will be very experienced after this year. The question mark is obviously the secondary with the loss of Allen and injury to Clark. That said a lot of talented young guys will get PT this year. Throw in new guys like Thompson (Juco former OSU commit safety) and the transfer CB from South Carolina who are immediately eligible that unit now becomes deep and experienced with real potential.
For the first time in the last 20 years I think we could have ourselves a unit that might be as strong or stronger than the offensive side of the ball.
