Coronavirus, Thoughts, Musings, Observations

I found a new activity to do while maintaining social distance. My wife and I played Yahtzee with my daughter and son in law via Facetime. The game continued through severe weather. We each had dice and score cards. Going to try a game of dice with our friends next weekend.
We played some games via Zoom also. Fun.

We played Yahtzee too this weekend...kids wouldn’t commit to Monopoly

Again, the hypocrite.

First, you wrote, "For something to be a fact you have to be able to use the scientific method on it. Part of this is observation."

Then, you asserted as a fact, "But the virus is not here yet."

You don't know that "the virus is not here yet" and you cannot possibly demonstrate that as fact by the scientific method you claim you follow.
We just had our second incident of the virus. This Sunday we are doing a parking lot service. I've been very thankful for the weeks we could have church in person. But I told the congregation once we see an incident it is time to pull the plug. Besides this parking lot service we are looking into facebook/youtube options.

Omg...do you even KNOW what a scientific theory is?

Some examples...
Theory of gravity
Germ theory of disease
Theory of evolution
Einstein's theories of general and special relativity

A scientific theory is NOT somebody's guess, a hypothesis, a conjecture, a wild and uncertain idea, or anything like the lay public use the term "theory".

A scientific theory is a unifying principle, a concept far more established and true than are even the many laws which support the larger theory.

The principles of evolution are as firmly established as is the existence of gravity.

To think that there are people out there like you, people so utterly ignorant, and people responsible for perpetuating that ignorance in others that come to them for guidance, is CHILLING.

You are an abomination to civilized society. No, I am not exaggerating.
Gravity is observable. And it has been proven over and over. Therefore it is not a theory. Evolution is not observable. You and I were not there. It is only speculation. Thus it is a theory.

Let us know how we can tune in. I'd sure like to hear your sermons.

Evolution is observable in 1000 ways. For instance, the SAR-CoV2 virus evolved by spontaneous mutation to recognize the human ACE2 protein on the cellular surface, allowing it to infect humans. It has evolved into at least 8 genetically distinct strains since then. And no, evolution within a species is no different then evolution of new species. The only element to add is time. Geologic time.

You still don't seem to grasp what "Scientific Theory" means. Gravity is a scientific theory that is on equal footing with evolution.

My nephew belongs to a religious cult in Tampa. They call it a church, but it is a cult. They are still meeting in person, regularly. Their pastor claims to have eradicated Zika virus by prayer, and assures his flock that they will be similarly protected.

Here's a TMZ article on the cult:

https://www.tmz.com/2020/03/29/chru...C7u6KFs5r9UUMg5CqG6n3mY-uTw0n8O3n35ioqZLmq9QY

Here is my nephew's post on facebook this morning. He is my brother's stepson from a second marriage. Scary.

I just read all this crazy things that the News wrote and posted publicly, they really think. so bad of our Pastor Rodney Howard Browne. The social media are ridiculous because they don’t read Bible and it is clearly to know that the only thing that protects people from sickness and disease is the blood of Jesus and not a stupid mask on the face and no social distancing!

Just by reading all the stupid stuff that the social media writes so wrong and mocking Pastor Rodney, that irritates me because the ones who wrote all that none sense I am pretty sure that they aren’t saved and don’t study Bible like we at RU School do!

Yes we will continue congregating in the Church, the Bible says in the presence of God there is fullness of Joy, no sickness!

----

I responded. It seemed to me to be my duty. He has a wife and 6 month old baby.

"God gave mankind knowledge and common sense. That seems to be lacking in people who are not doing their part in calming the spread of this disease. Please be safe!"

When you say "we" I assume you mean in your county. You very likely did not just have your second incident. What you had is your second confirmed incident via a positive test result. If your county is like every other location on Earth, you very likely have many more cases in your county that have either not yet been reported, or the victims have not become symptomatic yet.

At any rate, good thing that you've halted indoor services.

But, VPM can't observe the CV-19 virus, so it's only a theory at this time. Add in, that if his county is similar to most others I've been hearing about, then officials have been slow to test, even those showing symptoms, and the tests have been delayed generally, so if they have 2 known cases, they probably have many more folks that are currently sick, but haven't had a "confirmed positive test", in addition to those who aren't symptomatic yet. There are likely many more than 2 people carrying the virus around, so let's just hope none of them have been attending his services, or come in contact with someone who has.

It's great that you have a "warm and fuzzy" and are thankful for the weeks you've been able to hold church in person, since you should have ended them per the request of your Governor and officials. Your ego is obviously what was most important here. #irresponsible.

For Easter, the pastor will be broadcasting from a platform in a large parking lot broadcasting through a FM frequency we will listen to in our cars. Communion will be done in a service online with every person selecting their own elements and being blessed by the pastor in the live feed.
I've wondered about that kind of setup for people like Van. I was thinking that's how drive in movies work anymore. How difficult/expensive is that to set up?

Maybe TMP will tune in for communion. I think I know what elements he'll select!

Speaking of which, did Mr. Personality succumb to the CV-19 bug, or did he just have a brain hemorrhage reading over VPM's ridiculous responses about continuing to hold services?

People do it all of the time for cars watching their Christmas lights synced to music, with the music broadcast over a short range (a few hundred feet) on an FM frequency. It can be set up by a novice in 15 minutes, spending well under $100. Someone in his congregation likely already has the necessary equipment and know how, unless prolonged exposure to VPM has dulled their intellect too severely.

Low cost alternative to streaming. Just have everyone tune their car radio to 88.9 FM

Actually, you’re wrong on this. Evolution doesn’t just occur over time. It also occurs in the present moment, between species, all across the living kingdom.

Oops. Shoulda looked ahead...

Musings: The handle on the water pitcher in my fridge feels different in the morning after I bleached it the evening before.

Crap article. The very first sentence is not true. We don't deny science. We reject science with an agenda. Evolution for instance is taught as fact, but it is not a fact. It is a theory. For something to be a fact you have to be able to use the scientific method on it. Part of this is observation. The problem is we were not there at the beginning. We can't observe evolution as far as one species becoming another. Of course we observe change within species. We can even direct it if we want. None of us are saying this virus isn't real. If I lived in New York or Washington where it is more pronounced then we wouldn't be having services. But the virus is not here yet. Once we start seeing more then I will preach on the internet like some other pastors have done.
Very dangerous attitude. I would explain why, but I don't think it would do any good. Go ahead and kill your congregation. If they are dumb enough to show up, they can't be helped either

BTW, I am a Christian and evolution is more than a theory. Ever think evolution was part of God's plan?

If you saw dog tracks in the snow in your backyard but not the dog, is it a fact that a dog walked through your backyard or is it just a theory since you were not there to see the actual dog? Of course, it's a fact that a dog walked by.

And, you're wrong in saying "Gravity is observable." No one can observe gravity; it's a force. All we can do is observe the effects that gravity imparts to objects (including light). Nonetheless, you accept the existence of gravity (and surely the dog, too) even though you didn't observe either one.

Again, you pick and choose what you say is fact, using different analytical criteria to get the result you already decided.

If a tree falls in the middle of the forest and nobody sees or hears it... Never Mind, it would just confuse you.

I am not Computer Literate enough to cut, paste, and post, but I saw an article on a news site yesterday concerning a Pastor in Tampa, who was cited for holding a live Service for 300 congregants.

Here are some things people aren't getting about this whole situation, This is totally uncharted water. Nobody has been exposed to this or anything like it, and nobody has developed the antibodies to allow their immune systems to fully fight this. There is no rhyme or reason to the results.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson contracted this on a film site in Australia and appear to be fine after going into self -quarantine. Jackson Browne has reported that he has been diagnosed with it, is in quarantine, and at age 71, the symptoms for him are like having a mild cold. Yet there are fully healthy people in their 30's and 40's who contract it and are dead within days.

If you want to gamble, do it at a casino with your own money and presence (once the Casinos Reopen after the Virus imposed Shutdowns).

You failed science and butchered the definition of theory.

So typical for a trumptard..
