TMP, Twenty and several others are now making the arguments that Archie is a good-great coach and that if the lay people can't see that they are just ignorant. Fine, I will conceded that most likely Archie is a good coach, HOWEVER so are most NFL coaches. They weren't hired cause they were bad coaches, but they were fired because they couldn't win. Winning is the bottom line, can Archie win big time is the Elephant in the Room. Yes he made his little Elite Eight run, but many coaches have had this one hit wonder moment only to flame out on the big stage. Most coaches hired are hired because someone thought they could coach, but they get fired cause they couldn't win.

Accurate assessment

Archie's problem is that he is yet to PROVE he can recruit and win at a Power 5 school. Dayton doesn't count nothing but a mid-major and frankly his WINNING was not that impressive from a % standpoint.

It's testing my faith, but Miller can coach. Firmly believe that. This team is much more fundamentally sound compared to the Crean and Davis teams.

Recruiting, filling out a coaching staff, and being a leader also plays a huge role. Jury is still out in those areas.

Archie can coach.
He needs shooters and talent to win big
Also adding a key assistant coach would help with both recruiting and offense.

Idk..
I've been in his corner..
But he has yet to prove me ..That we're making positive big strides...Small ..Very small..Let's say we squeak into the dance..
He'd have to someway get us to a sweet sixteen to move the needle a bunch for me.
And next year's class is a very much wait and see.

Finally a post of yours I agree with!

Hmmm...now that is a good post. Gonna have to ponder that a bit.

Might be the most reasonable post you’ve ever made. You set the bar low, but congratulations on clearing it.

Have you ever seen a coach with a more “deer in the headlights” sideline face than Archie? In any sport?

Do you EVER show any bit of consistency on what you post?

Dayton has #1 shooting %!!!! Coach or program hmmmnnn.

I guess that “#1 shooting” doesn’t count, huh - since it’s AT DAYTON?

I played basketball and was offered a college scholarship to play basketball but I took a football scholarship instead. I know what I'm looking at and I've never seen a deer in the headlights look on Archie. You're just making shit up.
I saw that look in the last game when I think Smith and Green bumped into each other and Green lost the ball out of bounds. You know one of those unforced TO's. I may have the duo wrong. It was more of a WTF look but could have been mistaken for a deer in the headlights look if you are not an expert on the matter.

IMO it was a look of disbelief and disappointment. I know that was the look I had on my face. :mad:o_O

Don't see that look on Archie either. You're projecting.

You must be listening on the radio then.

I've been waiting all afternoon to post this because I wanted to be 100% sure. I got a text this morning about it and admittedly I thought it was a rumor at first. I've been waiting to make sure its 100% before posting.
I can say with 100% confidence that Billy and his wife were in Bloomington this morning.
I don't see any scenario where he and his wife come to town and he doesn't take the job. It's happening!!!

I find it hard to believe that a University that is between Athletic Directors would make a major Coaching Change and saddle an incoming Director with the long term contract of a Coach he didn't hire.

Are your sources as good as the triple Hearsay Witnesses that appeared before the House Impeachment Committee? You know the REO Speedwagon Sources, "Heard It from a Friend, Who Heard It From a Friend, Who Heard it From Another, You've Been Messing Around".

Are you asking me?

Take the crimson goggles off and you’ll see more clearly.

I never played collegiate sports but I know what a win/loss record looks like.

Pull you head out of your A$$ and you’ll be amazed at how much your outlook will change. ;)

I had someone once tell me that I had my head so far up my a$$ that I could actually see. Not that it has anything to do with this conversation, but I thought it was very funny.

thats just a terrible basis to argue on...
Wasn’t me who said it.

I won’t sit here and tell you Archie is, without question, gonna be the man to get us back to the mountaintop. But anyone who insists (as feepaw has ;)) that Archie “is a raging dumpster fire” needs to explain that.

He won’t.

And you know why? Because he can’t.

And if he doesn't win at a consistent level, he'll be fired here as well.

He did put Dayton in the tourney 4 years in a row, as an at-large bid.....something that had never occurred at that school before. So calling his tenure there a 1 hit wonder is rather ridiculous.
