I actually put a lot of thought on this one.. At least 3 min... Which is more than it deserves.
IU has had a lot of "characters" coach sports at IU.
IU has had a Carnival Huckster and snake oil salesmen coach the football team. It's had slight of hand specialists. It's had the prince of "Wait till next yr", a fraud liar, and a guy who's all talk with hoops.
IU doesn't need a double decker bus nor pictures of the scoreboard against OSU. IU needs to beat Wake Forest. Coach Wilson knows that needs to be the team's focus.
I don't know or care what the issue is between Coach Wilson and Dan. I have generally liked Dan and found him refreshing when he first took the air as a terrified guy on the radio telling Coach Knight stories to fill time.
I appreciate everything Dan did for the basketball team as both a player and coach. I like his basketball commentary during games. He's got some valid points on many things. But Dan is also petty and small at times. And I'm tired of it.
Coach Wilson is a grown man. He's got his share of critics on this forum. Some points are valid. Some are.... Well... not so much.
But Coach Wilson coaches the football team. Not Dan (I love you Urban) Dakich. Not Urban FREAKING Meyer himself, Not the lovely Leigh Ross, Not me, and not anyone else who posts here. Kevin Wilson does.
What anyone else thinks is not important.
Coach Wilson knows how important this game is to his team, his season, his career. He doesn't want his team thinking about anything but this game. He knows IU football has NEVER. EVER dealt with success. EVER.
He doesn't want anyone talking to his kids about Game Day. He doesn't want his kids talking about Game Day. He doesn't care about Game Day. I don't care about Game Day.
I want to beat Wake Forest. I don't care what it takes. I don't care if it's on a blocked field goal that bounces through the uprights for a "W". I don't care if Nate chucks it backwards between his legs and it sticks in Ricky Jone's facemark as he goes over the goal line. I don't care if the Referee has bet on IU to win and throws the flag 12 straight times against Wake to give IU first and goal at the one for the win.
And if they do win. THEN we can talk about Game Day and OSU. Maybe... I'd rather just talk about OSU.
