Clemson

I don’t mind it. Winning conference championships should mean something.

IU likely locked in to 10 seed now. Arizona State will be 12 seed. SMU or Bama will be 11 seed. IU isn’t jumping anyone else.

ND will be 5 seed. Texas 6 seed. I bet OSU will be 7 seed.

So the worst possible outcome has likely happened. We’ll be playing at OSU.

isn't ASU a top 4 seed? they won the Big12

So now you have a freaking ACC team with 3 losses going straight to the quarterfinals.
This format is flat out stupid but I wouldn’t expect anything less from the NCAA.

Clemson isn't getting a bye. They'll be 12 seed

It's Az St and Boise

I knew they would be the 12 seed but I thought the ACC winner got a bye,my apologies.

It's confusing as hell. But it's the top 4 ranked conference champs that get byes. Az St was ranked higher than Clemson coming into today. They rolled so hard to see them falling behind Clemson. And Boise for that matter too

NCAA has nothing to do with the CFP.
I would assume the NCCA approved the format,I know they don’t pick the teams.
The committee is full of AD’s etc from NCAA schools.
If they NCAA has no say in it,it’s more screwed than I thought.

I'll disagree to this extent. With expansion to the size of Conferences in recent years, Conference Championships have become less important. The major conferences are so big that You can't play round robin schedules, or at least more consistently balanced schedules. Therefore the criteria for getting into the Conference Championship game is very convoluted and not settled on the field. In addition not every Conference plays the same number of Conference Games. We play 9. As good as the SEC thinks they are, they only play 8, and many of their teams are still scheduling Louisiana Directional State for their 11th Regular Season game to have a breather before their traditional Year End Rivalry Game.

As an example look at the Big 10. No problem with an undefeated Number One Oregon in the Championship Game. Penn State gets in based on the formula. Penn State's only loss was to OSU. Our only loss was to OSU when They were ranked Number 2 in the Country. We didn't play Penn State. Neither Penn State nor IU played Oregon. OSU played all 3 of Us. How do You set up a "fair set" of rules to unwind that cluster? Are We a worse One loss team than Penn State? We will never know because We didn't play Them head to head.
