I'm undecided if CKW should stay or go at the end of the season but it may be clear to FG and the rest of us after 5 more games. It's obvious that he wasn't a home run hire and although I have supported him for the most part I was disappointed when he was hired. I wanted a proven coach that would hit the ground running. I know everyone says you can't get a good proven coach to come to IU. To that I say FG goes cheap on his fb hires even though he, imo, overpays the bb coach. UM has almost twice the athletic revenue as IU and OSU is considerably less than twice the revenue. Why shouldn't FG be able to offer 1/2 of what Harbaugh or Meyer earn to a potential hire and that would expand the list by making the job more attractive. A round # that falls between about half of what Harbaugh and Meyer earn would be 3 mil. I think an annual salary offer of $3,000,000 would generate interest from coaches that otherwise wouldn't consider IU.
To get to the point the positives for CKW as I see it are:
1 recruiting--- way better than previous coaches
2 culture--- it appears that the players are better prepared physically and have the right attitude
3 good assistants (I'm not sold on Knorr)
Negatives:
1 game management--- play calling, time management etc
2 mental prep of players--- penalties, letdowns etc
3 roster management--- db's this year, wr's this year and last, starting qb next year, lack of serviceable backup qb(free pass?)
I'm putting this out for discussion so feel free to add to the list or dispute my observations.
