According to Bruce Feldman. So is he just a TE’s coach, promoted to AHC or out in general? Interesting regardless.

Why would he turn down the opportunity to be OC of the Titans or head coach of Miss State? Both seem to be a promotion from OC at OSU, or Co-OC with Wilson.

The answer is both simple and concerning: he feels he has better talent to work with there at $ O$U $ then he'd have at an average NFL team or an above average SEC team...

That bodes well for him but not us...:(

It’s wilsons offense, or at least was last year, because they ran plays verbatim the the plays Wilson ran at Oklahoma and Indiana. It really was different from what Ohio State typically runs because in the past they were very very predictable, but so talented that it didn’t matter. I’m not trying to diminish the role that day had, but that had CKW’s print stamped all over it last year.

Interesting point: CKW might be better suited to be an NFL coach. If he, not Day had gotten the call from the Titans, I think CKW would’ve taken that opportunity, and could’ve had some level of success. I could definitely see CKW as an NFL HC or OC. Ironically, he’d fit that role better than at the collegiate level in terms of being a HC.

They still run a lot of QB draws and QB blocking plays when Barrett hands off. Thats Tebow stuff. Wilson never did that often...Those are Urban staple plays.

They also stretched the field which happened more under CKW (4 verts which he’s run everywhere). More timing routes. More stretch/inside zone, more emphasis on TE blocking like at Indiana. More run routes and cover 4 beaters ect. If we watched 17’ OSU film, and 12-13’ Indiana film, it’s be virtually the same offense. I give you the point on designed QB runs though. CKW did have that in his arsenal with Roberson however. Even had a package for him that is verbatim to a lot of the designed runs for Barrett.

Tennessee Titans would’ve actually been a perfect situation for CKW. I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets some offers like Day in the future to be an OC or HC for a middle of the pack NFL team. If he does want to be a head coach again, what we learned is the NFL may suit him better than college, and he knows X’s and O’s Well enough to coach at that level for a while.

I doubt he gets a head coach job in the NFL offer but I wouldn't be surprised to see him pop up as an Offensive Coordinator somewhere. If Pep Hamilton could get a gig (twice) Kevin would certainly be considered somewhere...

He had a redskins OC offer I think a few years back, or a position coach offer. Chose to stay at IU obviously, so I think he will pop up

I think you're right that his personality might be better suited to an NFL OC position.

As far as being an NFL head coach........I'm not his biggest fan but I don't see how he would be worse than half of the guys who currently have those jobs. He's someone I'd look at if I was an owner/GM of a crappy NFL team.

As long as someone with a Buddy Ryan attitude is not the d-coordinator. (See Kevin Gilbride). Click watch on youtube for a good laugh
