It seems our administration is always being called out for not doing enough for football. Am I missing something? Are our facilities and money spent really out of wack w/ the rest of the BIG? Is it $ spent on coaches? Equipment? I just don't understand and would love some clarity w/o just bashing people. I am talking really concrete evidence... Anyone?

I don't really get it either, and as far as facilities go, I will remind people that we have the Tallen complex coming next year, right after the SEZ.

RBB, what exactly is the Terry Tallen complex going to be? Thanks

IU facilities have been updated but are still toward the Big Ten bottom. Most schools have nicer for football.

25,000 square feet, locker room, coaches locker room, team lounge, recruiting area, equipment room and training room.
Pay no attention to the PU fan with 2 posts above, he/she has zero idea about our facilities.

IUs are very nice but they aren’t in the upper 2/3 of the BiG Ten. No disgrace in that just the way it is.

In terms of facilities, I think there is a general luck of understanding about what IU has done and is planning to do. They assume that because IU isn't unveiling a sparkly all-in-one facility that IU then must be behind. One thing that is forgotten is that the NEZ was actually well ahead of the curve in many regards, especially with regard to the size and setup of the team meeting rooms. In that regard, other schools were playing catch up to IU with their new facilities, although many of these facilities did surpass IU in the meantime. However, that also means IU doesn't have as far to go to catch back up, and doesn't need a huge new facility to do so. And IU is doing so by incrementally re-purposing and updated existing space. The old training area and cafeteria areas will be used to expand the locker room and create new football only training space, along with a player lounge. The team meeting rooms and weight room are also going to get a facelift and get new equipment. This time next year, IU will be in the upper half of conference facilities

Methinks Ord has returned ! Assuming we include the upcoming expansion under the West stands, please explain what other Big Ten schools have that IU does not.

In no order, Michigan, MSU, PSU, OSU, UW, Nebraska and Iowa are the top half of the BiG Ten in football facilities today, which schools will IU be leaping over in the next year?

I am very curious to see what the renovated football locker rooms will look like. I hope there is a big lit up IU logo hanging from the ceiling.

The coaching staff is the lowest paid in the conference and there is no football only facility.

You just picked the top programs in the conference, and haven't looked at their facilities. Wisconsin's are not at all impressive, PSU has really flashy, but somewhat barebones facilities, and MSU has a really impressive atrium/museum, but in terms of functional space, not so much. And Nebraska's had a major renovation about 7 or 8 years ago, and probably had some of the best facilities in the country at the time, but have fallen behind a lot. It doesn't appear they have made a major additions/alterations since then or have any planned.

PSU will probably move up the ladder, as they probably will have new space incorporated into the Beaver Stadium renovation, but that is still something that is 4 or so years from completion

Yeah UW's and PSU's aren't that great at all.

you people have locker/weight/training room obsession disorder, as if that's what defines a school's program.

i doubt many recruits turn us down because somebody else has a bigger mansion by a few sq ft with solid gold toilets, while ours are only gold plated.

if your stadium is only 2/3rds full on game day, the size of your locker room isn't the image issue you should be concerned about..

Just go to other stadiums and you’ll see the differences before you even get inside. It’s really not even a comparison. But most programs have had more success than we have. Historically tickets drove revenue, and other schools out sold us by a wide margin.

The game changer was the split on Big Ten Network revenue. That’s changed everything. We’ve closed the gap a bit but we’re still at the bottom of the conference.
