Personally, this is the most frustrating Indiana team I’ve ever watched. Way too careless with the ball. No one can shoot.

There are some people on this board that have blind loyalty to Archie Miller and I can’t figure out why. I’m willing to be patient and give him a chance, but it’s hard to say that it’s been good with him at the helm so far. If I was trying to describe this team, the term well-coached would never be used to describe them. As some of you have mentioned. The half court offense is atrocious. And the scariest part of that, we have one of the most offensively talented high school players to ever come out of the state of Indiana. His career at IU has been a waste....

Why would any dynamic scorer want to play in that offense, no way Jose.

Good post. The Archie apologists are all out of excuses. They are banking on next season I suppose.

On Archie I am 50/50 on Romeo being one of the most offensively talented players? Way down the list . He scored a lot , and my list does and doesnt contain NBA results and not to bash Romeo but too much hype and if he were a freshman looking at 2 more yrs? yeah we would be excited . But c'mon Most offensively talented ? Bird, Robertson, Bailey , Alford , Edwards, Woodson , Skiles, just a few at HS level . Its all about the NBA now. The best ever on NBA draft lists and just imagine the hype now vs 88 or 89 was Shawn Kemp. I would take Jay Edwards over Romeo as a player in a heartbeat . That guy was clutch, Jay was that for 2 yrs . If he had stayed ? If he didnt have other issues? He was Seth Curry before Seth knew who he was,but in todays NBA? 1989 was my favorite season . I am not sure why Romeo ascending this platform? He seems a really great kid and not like he can't play but it is not ending well

CAM needs to get some great shooters in a hurry. There are still ones not committed. If he has to Crean a few of these others ,so be it. IU needs players that want to represent our traditions. Hard players, never die attitudes and great shooters[including free throws]. Sorry but some of the kids on the roster just don't have this. Not asaying they might not do better at another program, just not IU.They can't grasp his defensive strategy. He needs better coaches around him. Lastly he needs to get a fire in his own belly. He doesn't call TO's when needed. He doesn't sit players who aren't helping the team . IQ needs to improve when it comes to preparedness. I like these kids but it doesn't mean all of them are cut out for IU.CAM needs to really do evaluation of players, asst. coaches and his own schemes at season's end. It is said-it should be done.

Hey Romeo...
Get your own..
Zion ..Barrett ..Reddish don't need set play's.
Ball get's throw'd around four or five times on the perimeter..
Then they just rise up.And make 21 footers..
Or drive the lane and finish with contact..
Your mentioned in the same breath of those three.

To be well coached, players have to be coachable.

One player has had a parent make tweets earlier this year that reminded me of the middle school parents complaining that their kid is a future star and should be starting. That player continues making the same mistakes over and over and clearly hasn't learned anything. It is quite possible he is paying more attention to outside sources. Or, he might just be too dumb. Another more senior player is in the same situation with mistakes and probably dumber.

We thought Romeo would play like a lottery pick. I didn't expect that with his draft status assured that he would put his game on cruise control and wait for the draft. I thought he was more competitive than that.

Sure injuries have been disruptive, but it is not the reason we continue to play badly. Hunter and Thompson could have helped. I do believe Hunter would have pushed Romeo, but we will never know. Our expectations early went to hell after a 12-2 start. There is a better explanation besides we lost confidence. What happened? Was there turmoil surrounding Green's suspension? Were there bad feelings resulting from the parent's tweets? Did someone hook up with another player's girlfriend?

I would appreciate hearing that they know the issue and will take steps to correct it in the off season. There is a root cause for this season. Find it, fix it, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Archie has to rebuild confidence in the fanbase and with future recruits. His usual practice of painting a rosy picture isn't enough. I am still behind him, but I will drop the support if he doesn't own up that there was more than an injury and confidence issue this year.

Well, CAM will not be going anywhere, still, watching this team makes my forehead hurt.

Only speaking for myself, but I’m not “blindly loyal” to Archie Miller and don’t know what that even means? What fans think on a forum have no impact on the coach’s performance evaluation by his superiors. Bottom line is that Archie is going to get at least 4-5 years here. Firing a coach after 2 years isn’t a precedent you want to set. All the names that have been bandied about (Tony Bennett, Mark Few, Bill Self, Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan) aren’t going to leave their current situations to come to a place that they’d get 2 years to turn around. Why would they? “Throw 8-10 million at them”....all of the places these coaches are at have just as deep if not deeper pockets than Indiana. Reality is reality.

No one.....NO ONE....is happy about the team’s performance. I’m not and certainly didn’t envision sitting at 13-11 after an 12-2 start. The difference is the maturity in processing the frustration. Some feel better by throwing a fit on the internet and I think feel it gives them a sense of control. Here’s reality...you have no control. Fred Glass knows the stakes of this, as does Archie and the staff.

The funny thing is.....most of the coaches the naggers pine for, they would have fired after their 1st few years anyway.

The difference is people are mostly out of patience after the three year crean honeymoon and Sampson fiasco. There are some apologists but the fan base as a whole is pretty much at their wits end with IU. Archie so far has shown no ability to be the guy for the future.

You do realize after we miss the tourney this year this will be a record at IU for most years missing the tourney in a row? When things like that happen people run out of patience. While archie will not be fired that does not mean people are not furious and that next year could get very toxic if this slide continues.

Yes crean missed three years in a row but those were the honeymoon years that did not count per Fred Glass. And no I do not think Fred Glass knows the stakes of this and frankly I do not thing he cares.

Sure. So what do you want me to do? Piss and moan on an Internet forum? “...next year could get very toxic if this slide continues.” Then call me back in 12 months. And to say you think Fred Glass doesn’t know the stakes nor does he care reflects poorly on your thinking ability. He is the Athletic Director at Indiana University. If he didn’t care he wouldn’t be in the job, and would have likely just kept Crean.

Fred did not want to fire Crean and never would have if he was not overruled. A guy that cares would have removed crean two years before he ever did. It is a well known fact if left to him he never would have fired crean if it was his decision alone. Crean was his guy no matter what.

Bailey777....you know what...you’re right! Glass has been hired and put in place as a Purdue plant....all to undermine the Indiana program and help elevate the Boilermakers! He was specifically instructed to stick a knife into the whiny faction of the fan base and slowly turn said knife, making it ever so painful as each season progresses. He selectively picked out a coach that he knew, despite being roundly respected amongst the college basketball community, would lose 9 of 10 games during his 2nd B1G season. This will push the whiners out into the forums in a frenzy to burn the program from within.....bringing about a complete and total emotional meltdown amongst the most “loyal” supporters. It requires the acquiescence of the BOT’s, who are happily playing along. It is only those amongst the whiny base who will see this conspiracy yet their sub-adolescent behavior will fail to convince the athletic department..facing IU basketball forever into oblivion.

How could I have missed this???

Again if it was up to Fred Crean would still be coaching IU today. I assume you would have been fine with that?

That's according to you. Do you have any proof? Other posters on here have said just the opposite: that Glass wanted to fire Crean a few years before it happened but was overruled. Since I've seen no proof of that one either it seems just as valid as your claim.

Never heard that from anyone. Fred even admitted in his press conference a few days before crean was fired he was leaning towards keeping him. He was his boy. He gave him the awesome extension. And he did not want to admit Crean was not working out.

If in 2 years from now we are not seeing progress, my sphincter might be as tight as yours is now.

Dude this is a message board a place to vent because our wives don’t give a shit. Misery loves company so they say. You seriously think people here think they can influence who gets hired or fired, lighten up a little.
