Wow. Sounded like Arkansas NIL was weak and it was affecting their search. Now Tyson seems to be stepping up for Cal. Good entertainment.
UK fans are pulling for Oats or Hurley, but I don't know how they get either.
Oats, if he did want to go, has an $18M departure buyout UK would have to cover. I guess they could but that is a lot. Bama probably had this scenario in mind when they came up with that number in his recent extension.

The guy I know with UK connections is saying this was Caliparis decision. That he wanted out in the end, and Arkansas was the type of situation he was looking for.

Speculation is they go to Arkansas and Cal/Tyson will pursue portal players to go with them.
I guess our situation is much different then UK’s since no one else actually wants our coach.
Worst case is if all the talk about Indiana increasing NIL sets off a billionaire bidding contest and at the end of the day we are just left with a mediocre coach whose newest strategy was just another mirage/smoke and mirrors/fools gold job retention strategy.

It has to be someone like Donovan, Pitino, Hurley, Oats to make sense but our coach might be interested!
I read that some media guy close to UK said a week or so ago that some surprising names were interested. I lit some candles he was referring to Mike Woodson.
Would you help us point out to the UK fan base that Woodson with his extensive NBA experience would be an excellent fit with you? Just a couple bad bounces at IU that happened to the best.

They will not have to contend with fan base hate in Fayetteville-at least during the honeymoon and maybe never.
They are leaving a fanbase that were buying extra lottery tickets so they could give the money to UK to buy out his contract.
My point was that it must be tough being the wife of the most hated man in a medium size city.
I guess they will now have a sizable sum to get whomever out of their current contract.

True, and I doubt he'll ever fall out of favor with the fanbase as it appears he has at UK, nor will the fanbase ever be as rabid or crazed. And, I think there's benefit of being the bball coach at a football first school. Still, I think he has a huge ego and difficult personality so he can possibly roil any situation.

Some have speculated that Hurley would have interest in a BIG or SEC job due to continuing conference realignment leaving schools like UConn as second citizens. He has also talked about the difficulty in getting his wife to move from his last job though, so might all be bs. Unlike us, UK will not settle & will have a real coach. I’m betting on Donovan…
Longer term either success or as kkot pointed out-a football school without the same demands as IU or UK.
Of course Bobby Hurley would be interested. It would be a step up.
