Ex-Purdue star, NBA 1st-rounder Swanigan dies
Caleb Swanigan, the former standout Purdue big man and NBA first-round pick, has died at 25.
I did not write that they did, butthey did not help. He was caught with 8.4 pounds of weed, a huge amount of cash, and said it was for personal use. He also weighed 550 lbs and was an untreated diabetic. Not a good combo for living.

Can’t you just let the man Rest In Peace? Why do you feel it is necessary to drag him through the mud. My Daughter graduated from Homestead with him and he was a very respectful young man. Please show some class.

This is so sad. His story was painful, inspirational, and ultimately tragic. He was one of a handful of those guys that I've ever pulled for - along with Robbie Hummel and Ralph Bolden.

I agree. none of this matters now. A family and friends lost someone they cared about and that matters. Perhaps his story as a tragic figure is one that will help others younger than him.

Most likely a combination of diabeties and obesity. Both went untreated. He was a nice young man who worked so hard to get to his goals, only to see them slip away. So sad.
He can't help himself. He sees everything, including a sad story like this, through the lens of a college rivalry.

Beacause some people seem to off on the misery of others. I dont know maybe their lives are miserable so they are trying to feel better about themselves. Either way his post was messed up.

I do not follow the NBA. Did he no longer play? Fantastically rare to weigh 550. I would need to see pictures or physician notes and none of that is my business.

Not a bad idea tho. Have some type of process where ex players may reach out for mental health, physical health, economic support, etc.
Just a shame to see a young man lose his life. Prayers for his family. Prayers for the Purdue family. And prayers for those whom are passing judgement on him in this post..
He was on the wrong teams and then opted out during Covid from what I’ve seen. Sad really because he was definitely good enough.
Ya. He never seemed to get in a good situation it seemed. Unfortunate as I thought he could thrive in the right role. Such a good talent with a phenomenal story. He was hard to root against.

This was a kid you had to root for and the vast majority of IU fans did.
What in my statement is not true? Where was his agent/"dad", porkchop and the coaching staff (his pu family)? The kid gained 250 pounds in 2 1/2 years, reportedly weighing 500+. It is a sad situation that intervention could have saved him. Did all these adult supporters just disappear? If you adopt a teenager, become hi$ agent and deliver him to your alma mater, shouldn't a dad be there to help him when he is no longer a pro? He obviously asked for/needed help when he was arrested while gaining that weight. That occurred over a year ago.
This is a sad situation, a shame, as I stated in my original post. It could have been avoided.
