Bucket Game Crowd Size

There have been many Oaken Bucket games on Thanksgiving Saturday. In fact I can't remember when they were not played on that Saturday. I know the students are gone but someone said housing, sororities and frats open Saturday morning so there is a possibility a lot of students will be back in time for the game. Will there will be the normal size student crowd? I wonder though about the crowd size. Even after winning, it's going to be cold, a night game, holiday weekend ... all good excuses for fans not to show up. Like the old days.

Ticket prices online trending in a way that there are going to be a lot of empty seats. Is that possible at 10-1 and a chance to pound Purdue? Will lack of crowd noise be a factor? After all, as bad as they are, the Boilees did score 49 against Illinois with a hellacious 2nd half comeback.

Personally I think IU covers the point spread and possibly doing that by halftime ... yet I still wonder about the crowd size.

Although a sell out I’m sure the cold weather will scare off some, plus PUke won’t have many there.
I look for it to be in the 46-47k range.

If those who want to be there read this link and take it to heart they'll be as toasty as if they were sitting in their own home:

Add a blanket and smuggle in a closed cell foam pad (garden kneeling type) to sit on and you're good to go...

There's only a 5 mph west wind forecast with a temperature at Kickoff of 29 degrees (dropping to around 20 by 10:30pm) so it's not as though the game is being played in the Antarctic...

When Purdue has faced the better defenses, like OSU, ND, Oregon, and PSU, they’ve only been to muster a total of 16 points. And I would put IU’s defense in the category of one of the better defenses. I’d be surprised if we let them score more than 10 points.

I agree but I have friends who won’t go to games if it’s raining or below 50,it’s those type of fans I’m referring to.

My whole life at 61 has seen those types. Fair weather fans. If you can't sit in your seats for the whole beat down of a rival team, you're not a real fan. Wish the game wasn't this weekend but perhaps some of the kids will make it back for the game. Go Hoosiers thanks for making this season so special. Thanks Hoosier Nation for a great fan base that I hope shows up this weekend.

I would be more likely to go to a game where my team was a 29 point underdog as opposed to a 29 point favorite. What would probably change that would be if the game was a sellout.

I’ll be there with family and grandkids . I wish it wasn’t a nite game , but tv makes the decisions . I think it is smarter to have nite games early in the season when the temps are hot , and later when it’s colder to be a day game . TV doesn’t care about the fans , or if the stadium is empty as long as they have a game to show .

I will be disappointed in our fan base if it is not a sell out. I understand alums that live an airplane flight away may struggle, but anyone within driving distance should go. Bowl committees look at a fan base to see who travels and who does not. Crucial to sell out and support a 10-1 team against an arch rival.

It is a sell out - attendance is what I am concerned about.
The only way Cig leaves IU is from lack of crowd support! This is our first test!

Did you happen to notice he just got a new deal? Cig is Indiana now. Support the guy and reap the rewards.
Everyone knows Cig got a new deal!!! But it also allows him an out from the deal. Dolson & Whitten have done everything they can to keep him a Hoosier for life. The only thing left is for the fans to do their part! Pack the house on a regular basis, don't find excuses like weather, time of game, arecent loss, etc to cause you not to attend. I have had season tickets since 1964 (missed 3 years do to Military service) and have probably missed less than a dozen games during that time.

Those are stalwart attendance numbers. On behalf of all Hoosiers Nation, nationally and abroad, I thank you for your support.

There will be some not show because we lost last week.
I know that sounds pathetic but if we lose a few games some of the ‘new’ fans will return to their first love ND

Cig just put out a video on Instagram imploring everyone to show up tomorrow….so yeah, somebody knows something!
If you live in a dorm or greek you can't get in till Sunday. This will be one of the better attended Bucket games in a long time but still not full for a number of reasons outlined already.

There goes another 5k fans lol

Just wear some rain gear as your outer layer and let the snow accumulate on you... Just adds up to more insulation...

The stadium will be even more beautiful with a layer of snow on it...

Classic Experience.

Great for the TEAM to experience too if our 1st round Playoff is at either ND or P$U...

The TaxSlayer bowl in JAX we had over 20K on hand and were still outnumbered 2:1 by TN fans. If we get booted from the CFP IU will be in a good bowl.
