I saw where he entered the portal today.
Started out at Pee U and transferred to Louisville.
I know we recruited him out of HS.
Big kid with a good arm but don’t much know else about him.
Thoughts?

I’d go after a guy with experience playing multiple games. I don’t know if that is someone like Kaden Salter former 5.8 Tennessee signee and ex-Liberty QB, although his production dropped off.
Jackson Arnold at Oklahoma is in the portal as well and their OL protection was horrific. He was their starter. High star kid with experience although Seth Littrell’s offense wasn’t much and he was fired there this week.

He was projected to be a decent talent back in 2022. With that said, we already have projected talents on our roster with a year under their belt in Shannahan's offense. Brady Allen has 1 pass attempt in his career which means he doesn't fit the mold of production over potential. Jeff Brohm, as we know, has a great system for a QB and if he was unable to make anything out of Brady Allen, I think that likely tells you a lot.

Incoming RS-JR with virtually no college experience? I'd pass.

I guess maybe give him a shot if you need someone on the roster, but it'd be taking the ultimate flyer.

Bummer for the kid to have a lot of hype but never get established anywhere.

I would steer clear of Salter. From what I read, He was arrested multiple times before seeing the field at Tennessee, and was in the Second Chance/Witness protection Program at Liberty.

He wasnt been able to get any serious PT at either school...

No Thanks...

He'd be smart to give it one last shot at a MAC school that really needs a QB,,,

I'm guessing Cig will go after a guy like the WSU kid. Not necessary him but someone proven. He has states he prefers production over potential from the portal. Potential is high school recruits or maybe freshman transfers.

That kid ( soph. Caden Veltkamp) originally liked IU but CTA never offered. He's a gunslinger.

Guys to keep an eye on:

  • Jackson Arnold - Oklahoma 63% completion rate and only 1,400 yards with 10 TDs in 2024. But…their OL protection was horrific.
  • Matthew Sluka - the controversial QB from UNLV who quit the team over NIL monies owed.
  • John Mateer - Washington Stste. The Cougs are putting together a package to keep him there.
  • Devon Dampier - New Mexico phenom who threw for over 2,600 yards, and had 1,100 yards running. This kid is this year’s Cam Ward. He’ll have people lined up. If you haven seen his highlights. True dual threat.
  • Kaidon Salter - Forget about him getting kicked off of Tennessee for this nonsense about simple possession and no license. The kid had some small amount of weed in the car. Some of the greatest to ever play the game were midnight tokers, or big time alcoholics (Kenny Stabler - one of my favorite QBs of all time). Give the kid a chance. Kid would thrive here. Be a true RPO.
  • Mickey Keene - Fresno State kid. Started out at UCF tutoring under Dylan Gabriel. He’s been solid at Fresno.
  • Darian Mensah - if you haven’t seen this Tulane kid play, it’s fun to watch. Former USC kid.
