Bomba Earns Scholarship

James was one of three that were awarded a scholarship
He's a 3rd generation, legacy iu football player and he "earned" a scholly

I wouldn't knock the Bomba family and name. They bleed IU. Deserved or not in anyone's opinion doesn't matter. True Hoosiers all the way.
You worried that he took one away from a 4 or 5* player that we'll now lose? Can't have it both ways.
All sports starting from something like '65 and basketball only since the late 70s. 100% Legend along with Dr. Rink.
I know some want to claim nepotism here but I’d point out a few things:
-He’s 6’5 255
-Believe he was on scholarship at Miami OH, so not like he couldn’t play
-He walked on bc he wanted to be at IU
-All the coaches have said he’s basically #2 TE now behind the kid they took to B10 Media day who is going to be a stud
To me we should all cheer a story like that all day long. Walk ons who EARN a scholarship are awesome stories.
If his last name was Jones don’t think anyone would have said anything other than great story. And to me, this kid must bleed IU red and if he loves it and worked his way back, what an asset to have that inside and influencing the program!
