"The church is supposed to direct the government."

“the government is not supposed to direct the church,” saying that dividing religion from the system of government was not what the Founding Fathers intended.

“I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk — that’s not in the Constitution. It was in a stinking letter and it means nothing like they say it does,” Boebert said, earning a round of applause from the audience.

Lordy.... she may be more DANC-dumb than even DANC.

DANC is just dense. Has been for the 20+ years he's been on any of these message boards.

I think MTG and LB are having a Paris Hilton/Nicole Richie 'dumb-off' to see which is the dumbest and it's kind of a dead heat.

She's just dumb. There's no way around it.

The fact that she is deemed qualified to serve as a representative only means that the qualifications severely need calibrated. She's an idiot, pure and simple.

Supposedly the PAC that took down Madison Cawthorn has her high on their list. This is another group of Republicans looking to clean up their own house. Here's to the resounding success.

I don't know whether it's a psych evaluation. Essay exam. Something. But damn. We have people that are truly morons. We have people who don't even know when the next election is. It's a joke

Exile the Cawthorn's and Boebert's. Punt the Squad to its own party. And we would be in business

Reaction score rocket fuel right there.
So I'm thinking it's like what our social media girl tells me. There are certain days and times that are best to post to maximize engagement. This may have been poorly timed. I think next week I'm going to make her get a handle on here

She will certainly be smarter than several posters here. Does she know the difference between "it's" and "its"?

When preachers whose primary focus should be on finding salvation for the flock use the pulpit to influence those elected to serve in a government office...it might be a violation of the separation of church and state.

People say this all the time, but I'm not sure it would change anything. Let's say the Squad was kicked out of the Dem Party and formed a Progressive Party that got a dozen or so people elected to Congress. Would you suddenly be happy with the Dems, or would you still be terrified of the hold the Progressive Party now holds over the Dems due to the fact that the Dems have to keep them happy as a coalition partner in order to keep the leadership?

Extreme politicians are outliers in Washington, but they still have constituencies and bases. AOC has a base. Boebert has a base. Whether those bases exert their influence from the edge of the major parties, or from just outside of them, does not have much import, I think.

Our system is much preferable to Europe where middle left and and middle right parties have to form coalitions with actual
Socialist or nationalist/ neo-fascist parties to exert influence.

It’s why complaining about the two party system is so silly.

Not sure if you heard, but that PAC has claimed she was an unlicensed escort and has had a couple of abortions. She threatened to sue and they urged her to bring it on. Haven't heard anything else in a week or so...

No such thing as separation [of] Church and State.

She should lose easily to a moderate Democrat. But she’ll probably have to face a super woke culture warrior, and will likely win again.
Doesn't look like it. Moderate Dem. He'll get destroyed in the wave.

Church is not the product of government. However, there is absolutely no doubt that church teaching and history influenced much of our government policy and criminal law. I posted about the civil religion years ago. LB is uneducated and inarticulate, but she is not as dumb about this as you make her out to be.

The Dem race hasn't been called yet. The moderate has a slight lead over the progressive. Cook rates the district R+6, so if the moderate wins, you might be right, but I'm not sure it will be "easily," considering the advantageous Republican environment nationwide.

Mass, have to agree and disagree.

Agree in that moral positions of a church can influence how people elect candidates who govern.

Disagree in that government doesn't promote a particular faith which allows us to be free to follow any faith along with not following any particular faith.

Someone needs to take away your keyboard. She’s a fu$&ing moron. The fact you are suggesting otherwise is, well, moronic. And who the f cares what you posted years ago?!? It’s as if you think your posts are somehow of significance or noteworthy. Are we supposed to search back several years to read some mind numbing screed?

Religion also influences how public officials govern. The evidence is all over the place from abortion, to Christmas Day being a federal holiday, to marriage laws, child abuse laws and much more. That’s not say that you have to be a religious person to hold similar positions, but that’s more coincidence than design.

The colonies were founded to favor a certain religion. The Southwest was settled and based on Catholic missions, not government outposts.

All this came together through the years to bring us where we are. Separation of church and state was a feature of the federal government in order to preserve the religious heritage of each colony/state.

I did see something along those lines. All of that would make things she said above even worse.

I've said for years that Congressmen, particularly House members, are woefully unimpressive. Let's be honest, she only won for one reason and we can all guess what that is.
