Interesting. Possibly he wants to see the old stomping grounds one more time but isn't willing to ask to go into Assembly Hall.
Yep, this tells me that he knows his time is coming to an end. He may have been half nuts but the world needs more men just like him.
Coach Knight is back on campus . . . the curse is lifted . . . look out for IU basketball next season!!! (tic)
Wouldn't necessarily read a lot into it. He has certainly been back to Bloomington on several occasions, and he's a huge baseball enthusiast.

I have a great deal of respect for Coach Knight's ability. He brought us unparalleled success and consistency, and I have alot of fond memories as well as a few not so fond but overall I would take the bad with the good 10 out of 10 times. The only issue I ever had was the cultish fervor and blind worship that a small subsection of "fans" exhibited in regards to RMK. They were Bobby fans first, IU fans second...which is kinda funny considering the mantra of "playing for the name on the front of the jersey" that coach preached. He could do no wrong in their eyes and as such, they would shout down any dissent or criticism of the man, when the reality was he was an all time great coach who was a flawed man. Capable of feats of both coaching and humanity, but also capable of behaviors and actions that were wholly indefensible.
I am happy to see him finally come back to campus, but I am also saddened by the possibility that he is losing his faculties. I really hope that this can finally be the step towards burying the hatchet so to speak, as it seems time is not on our side in this.

Lol. Okay. I will expound a bit. Knight being on campus is a big deal. The b-ball program has been garbage since the day he left. He built the program. Forbes deems it the third most valuable program in the country. Is knight insufferable? Yes. An ahole at times? Yes. He is also the most recognizable entity associated with iu. He gave 30 years to iu. As an employee who loved iu. Glass should get in the car, drive down there, shake his hand, and say thanks for coming. A lot of time has passed. As for me I am an iu law alum who spent over a 100k to attend iu. How about you? I am entitled to an opinion: Fred Glass sucks....
I, and many others I would guess, have hoped for some sort of reunion before it is too late. Maybe this was it.
I have to believe Hammel has been working on him for a long time. If anyone can convince Knight to come to Assembly Hall for a "homecoming" it would be Bob. Let's hope they get this done before it's too late.
The story on wthr.com has some tweets of good video of him riding in a golf cart. He gets a couple of double-takes as he goes by.
Regardless of your opinions of his behavior prior to or after his dismissal, those who were saying he deserves his current state are horrible human beings. I have avoided that thread, and will not give my opinion, because now is not the time and that is not the place. I will just say that I hope he had a peaceful time today in Bloomington and on the campus of IU, where he brought so much joy to so many. He does deserve that.

I think Mr. Hammel and Mr. Knight knowing I U fans in his own way, was saying both a goodbye and it's fine to back this program. in many way's with quirks or not, he certainly played a very big role in putting I U on the map. I tip my hat to him for time served as both builder and without reservation, it should be Knight court.
Oh the irony: Coach Knight finally back at IU the same day Texas tech is in final four being coached by a former Knight assistant.
If T Tech was in the finals today he would never came on campus to be petty. Go to the library he raised so much for and read up on him or talk to Landon Turner about the man. Not rumors!
Maybe he was here to pick his burial spot where he'll be buried upside down so we can all kiss his arse. For all the things he accomplished, he was still a dick when he didn't have to be. Brilliant basketball mind and a generous human being when he wanted to be. But in the end, he couldn't outperform who he really was/is. That being said, I don't wish Alzheimer's on anyone or their families. My MIL has it and it's a very cruel disease no one deserves.

Glass will be on his knees begging to kiss Knights ass to show up in the Hall next season. Knight will return on his own terms. It's always been that way. As if Knight gives a shit what the current AD thinks. I'm sure any reasonable lawyer would understand that.
Maybe this is evidence of another, more recent grudge. After all, if he is in B-town, he’s not watching the semifinal games, in person.
