Grind it out game, but the Hoosiers had enough heart to grind it out. Good to see positive contributions from some guys that haven’t shown much this year.

Suggestion to the doom and gloom crowd....shut up until the game is over and you won’t look so stupid.

Glad that Joey made up his mind to play like a big man. I would like to see that same grit from now on. The team needed to win a game like this away from home.
Agree! Was also happy to see Jerome making some athletic plays.
DD helped defensively against their big. He actually contributed to stopping their first half run, but most here wouldn’t recognize or admit that.

yeah Brunk grew some balls at halftime. Maybe getting embarrassed repeatedly at the start of the game and spending the rest of the 1st half on the bench worked.

DeRon looks like a 65 yr old man out there. I would not be surprised at all if this year is the end of his career. Not criticizing the effort, as he did play more minutes last night that any game in a year, but i feel pain in my own knees and ankles watching him try to jump.

Durham and Green scare me against full court pressure. Sloppy with the ball. Need Rob on the court. He breaks down a press single handedly.

Good little spurt by Hunter in the second half, at a key point in the game. TJD sat a little more in the 2nd half than I would have preferred (probably because Brunk came to life). I cannot remember a game with so few mid-range shots made. Race must have pissed off CAM in the first half- he came in for a few min, went back to the bench and disappeared.

Someone find the last game that IU actually won, while not having one player score double digits. I realized at the end of the game that the clown show announcers rarely said lines such as "he's got 18 in the game..."...because no one had much to brag about. Ugliest of wins, but still...will be a gold star on the team resume come March.

It has to be extremely rare for a team to win without a double figure scorer. I can’t recall seeing it, even in losses. I hope someone has time to research that a bit...I have to get to work.

And they gave great effort and fought hard throughout. They just need to bring it consistently. Last night was a great win.

i think I saw somewhere that it was the first time in 20 years that IU won without a double digit scorer

side comment...kudos to Vitale for his cancer charity work...but he is insufferable behind the mic during a game.

Hopefully his IU games this year are few. Just keep him on the east coast please.

Also, I see ESPN is going to start a marketing platform for Penny and the Memphis program. "The Harder Way" special. Nice of ESPN to do for Penny considering he really hasn't accomplished anything other than landing 5 star recruits.

Ugly but a win. Pocket it and move on.

Random thoughts:

Second half seemed like each team was trying to let the other team win, but the other team refused to take it.

7 minutes without a basket - some of these guys need to retake the "leadership" and "communication" modules because they missed it after the Wis game.

Rob settled the team down on offense. It was not great but you could tell things started to come around when he was on the court. It takes the pressure off Al and DG.

Watching DD go up and down the court makes my knees hurt. Watching Al run the point makes my eyes hurt.

Brunk under control, gathering and going up strong is good. Anything else is low percentage.

Every possession should include a touch by TJD. There should be no debate about it. I'd tell everyone on the team that if they have an opportunity but fail to get the ball to TJD in a half court possession, they are coming out of the game. Until he proves he cannot handle it, that's option 1 every time.

valid points. Green was very sloppy with the ball last night. Rob is the one sure ball handler. And DeRon's body has failed him. Give him credit for being out there longer minutes and fighting but his injury is very tough to recover from quickly, especially for a big guy.

I almost turned it off at the 10 min mark of the second half. That first 10 minutes made my eyes hurt.

DD did make a couple of baskets. His role is to play 5-10 minutes and he did that last night.

I felt bad for him on that second half turnover where all was by himself and could have rattled the rim with a thunder dunk. He wants to play well. I think his body is just breaking down and it keeps him from being as good as he could be.

Rob Phinisee played 13 minutes, and won the game for us. He defended their point well, he added movement to our offense, and he came up with some crucial rebounds and loose balls. That kid is going to have a nice career at IU.

yep that one hurt....2 easy points...too easy. Moved a half step forward before securing the ball. I give him credit, played some good minutes, carrying 250lbs on thin wounded legs. And the play near the basket was not for the meek and timid last night.

I think in certain games and matchups he can help win some games. He is still crafty around the basket and can bang defensively. Hopefully his injuries won’t affect him as much as the season goes on.

You're being very generous in your evaluation. Had we lost, I think he would have been the single player most responsible...........

His footwork early in his career was why I thought he would become a good post player. He looked more comfortable around the basket than Bryant.

Leaving 2 foot shots short because he can't get off the floor is a problem I have to attribute to his achilles injury. I feel bad when I remember what he looked like his freshman year.

Crafty is a good description of how he has to play. He has realized what his limitations are and has changed his game. He needs to have better position and play stronger with the ball than in the past. He has to power through contact.

As we all got older and tried to play as adults, the people we played with got younger. We had to rely on experience and more physical play instead of athletic ability. I see DD as a 35 year old with the experience of a 22 year old. He is playing against younger bodies. He can have his moments but he will have to work harder to do so. That is more difficult to do for longer periods of time.

The worst part is, I can't watch IU anymore I guess.

I missed the FSU game and IU dominated.

I watched the Wisky game and they got their asses kicked.

I intentionally missed the UCONN game and we won.

I'm sorta pissed.

Phinisee was one of Archie's most important recruits of his career.

Damn! At least you recognized it early in the season. We appreciate your sacrifice! Lol
