Are a flat out JOKE. It seems we are heading to NYC or Santa Clara. But freaking Louisville and Kentucky with their 7 wins will be playing in Tennessee or North Carolina. The Big Ten is a joke. Just another F up by the great Jim Delaney. Our bottom tier bowls are in California and NYC? Really? Couldn’t get in the Music City, Liberty, Belk, or some of those other bowls down south? Freaking ridiculous. 8 wins and we’d have to spend a boatload to go see this team play in a Bowl.

Why don't you wait until Sunday before you start "the sky is falling" routine.
The whole bowl-tie in system is a joke. We end up with these ridiculous shufflings of teams to meet contractual obligations and have 6-6 Sun Belt teams in blowout games when they have to take on open Big Ten or SEC spot. It's just a mess and it's boring having the same teams and conferences go to the same bowls every year.
The whole thing was so much better when it was a free for all and bowls had to compete with each other to get teams. The games were better and the process was so much more fun. You could end up anywhere and not just be limited to a handful of bowl options. The NCAA should blow the whole thing up and limit conference bowl ties to champions only.

If you're waiting on the NCAA for a good fix (regarding the bowl selection process or anything else), you're going to be waiting a long time.
Pinstripe is a lot of money. 6 million pay out. Freddy would like all the IU alumni in NY.
Conference splits total bowl payouts evenly among all of the teams in the conference. Rutgers will earn the same amount from bowls as Indiana will. There may be some financial consideration given to travel expenses, but I'm not sure.
Don't like the Big 10 bowl tie-ins? Wait until next year. A new six-year agreement kicks in and runs through the 2025 bowl season. The new lineup will be:
- CFP
- Rose Bowl
- Other NY6
- Citrus
- Outback
- Las Vegas/Belk (rotating every other year with SEC - similar to current Gator/Music City)
- Music City (all six years - no sharing with another bowl)
- Cheez-It (Phoenix)
- Redbox
- Quick Lane
The alumni, who likely never showed up at MS when they are undergrads are going to show up at Yankee Stadium in late December on a 20 degree day? And sit in a stadium where the field runs home plate to Center field and a seat on the 50 starts about 25 yds away from the field?
I think the criticism of the Bowl tie-ins is overblown. the B10 has secured the most profitable bowl lineup and tweaks it every few years for variety of location and guarantees Bowls won’t get the same team every year (by massaging the selection order. The league suffers by having only one bowl tie in within the footprint (Detroit) and that game is more a penalty than a reward. Minneapolis and Indianapolis just aren’t Bowl destinations for fans looking to drop money on flights and hotels. Orlando/San Diego/Tampa over New Year? More likely to convince the wife to make the trip and drop the dough.
First, regarding the weather, sure, it will probably be cold, but New York is hardly the arctic. It could be colder in Nashville than in New York. When the Hoosiers played in the Pinstripe in 2015, it was a 52 degree day.
Regarding attendance, there were 37,218 in Yankee Stadium for our game in 2015. That's comparable to last year's Pinstripe attendance of 37,821 (Wisconsin/Miami) and the 2017 attendance of 37,667. The 2017 game featured Iowa and a team within an easy drive of New York - - Boston College.
37,000+ is a respectable crowd for a bowl game. People go to the Pinstripe, and New York at Christmastime is pretty cool.
That said, I'd rather go to Florida, but we could do a lot worse than New York.
