Biden Now Says He CAN Impact Gas Prices

Biden asking to suspend the federal gas tax would show he's all for the American working man, correct?
It's a terrible idea, in my opinion, for multiple reasons.

First, it will push demand in the wrong direction - - up. This could, in turn, negate the reduction in the price at the pump that the gas tax suspension will initially trigger and ultimately cause prices to rise higher than where they are now.

Second, the gas tax suspension will reduce revenues for roads, bridges and other infrastructure projects. This runs counter to one of the biggest priorities of his first year in office and perhaps his most significant legislative win to date - - the infrastructure bill.

Next, I don't understand why he'd make this very public push for a gas tax holiday when it's not clear he's got the votes even in his own party to get this through the House. It strikes me as ill-advised.

All of these plans that will effectively increase demand for gas are wrongheaded. We have a demand problem and a supply problem which leads to high prices. We should be focusing on solutions to lower demand to allow supply to level up.

No, we have a Biden problem!

I understand all that.

Floor started a thread about how dems had voted against suspending the gas tax in Kentucky and how dems were against the working man.

My post was poking fun at that thread, yet again because it's yet again, a dumb premise.

Keep your cheerleading, it shows a lot of ignorance.

(of course) there already is a solution to lower demand and raise supply. And it doesn't require government intervention.

It was NOT about “dems voted against suspending the gas tax.”

No wonder the Democrats fool you people so easy.

He is not sure if today is Wednesday or not. Do you really think he has any idea on how to affect gas prices? I saw him yesterday with a mask on. That is so last year.
Why wouldn’t he know what day it is? I’m wearing a mask this week. Going to a wedding this weekend and they asked people to do so. Father of the bride going through chemo. Lots of reasons people wear masks.

Typical post from our resident db moderator.

They like to paint a picture where his flaws are greater than Trumps flaws. That way they feel better for voting for an ignorant conman .. See if he doesn't know what day it is, it equals nuking a hurricane in stupidity. Then if you point out their transparent little game to them and how stupid it is, they come back with "trump isn't president", but we all know exactly what they're really doing .. I already know former die hard trump voters who claim now they didn't vote for him....

I don't feel better or worse when talking about Biden. He is a feeble old man. Big deal. And I challenge you to find any post of mine defending Trump in the past 2 years or so. Hint...you won't.

You're the one who made the db comment. Care to explain or provide evidence? Z already asked, and you ducked her. Pointing out your obvious, sustained, and well-known dbaggery does not make one a db himself.

You gonna poke some fun at the idiots that have been adamant that Biden can’t affect gas price?

That is perfectly fine that you would wear a mask in that situation. Biden, wearing his around a bunch of elementary age kids yesterday was stupid, and does nothing to improve a situation

Why is it that you are almost always the first person to respond to one of my posts. Do you just sit around all day hitting your update button. For a guy that has 6000 posts over a 20+ year period, I don't understand why you are always following me around.

Actually, that's not even close to true, but like a true conservative, you whipped out that victim card quickly when confronted with your db statement.
So, care to provide any proof that Biden doesn't know today is Wednesday, or do you plan on crying some more in a pathetic attempt to divert attention?
Or, will you take the high road and admit that you were being an asshole? You guys are the high road type, right? I'm not betting on this option.

Also, how about calling out cray on his stalking of Z? About 60% of his posts are directed at her, even when she isn't addressing him.

Are they asking people to wear n95s? Also, are they requiring it at the reception?

On the first point, is demand really going to be affected that much by the gas tax holiday? I mean, I could see a little bit, but was there a significant portion of the population and businesses that really have changed their gas consumption in the past few months due to the high gas prices? I don't know anybody who has cancelled their summer vacation plans or have heard of any truck transport lines ramping down shipping (yes, anecdotal, but still....).
There are currently plans in action to start pumping more oil (both here domestically and, in theory, increased production from Arabian countries), so the whole point of this is to drop prices a bit until that oil production can be increased to start meeting demand. Seems like a short term stop gap, but not necessarily a bad move.

As for the second point, I am relatively certain they'll find the money somewhere to keep the infrastructure bill going. We should be able to find a few more Russian Oligarch yachts to confiscate.

So if the Inert President Biden cannot influence the price of gas, even though Sen. Schumer says $3.89 gas was Trumps fault, and Putin can influence it from Russia, its all the more reason for the EPA to help out Americans with temporary tax relief. But they didn’t. Because Democrats are NOT for the little guy, the poor and the working man. Thats an election year lie.
No, the original argument was that the Democrat governor of Kentucky asked the EPA of a Democrat federal administration to temporarily suspend 32 cents per gallon of EPA gasoline tax costs in Kentucky, and the EPA said “let them eat cake.”

This not you?

You can twist and turn all you want but you most certainly implied the Dems were to blame for Kentucky not getting the suspended Kentucky gas tax.

Specifics matter. Read the actual post i made and the actual article.

Kentuckys Democrat governor asked the EPA to suspend an RFG tax. The EPA said no.

Most lefties here continued to claim Biden could not impact gas prices. As did Biden himself.

And now Biden is going to try and impact gas prices by …. wait fer it … suspending gas tax!

which any savings the gas companies will eat up by just adding that amount to the price, because they can.

the idiocracy just doesn't grasp how this works, and the CORPORATE media aren't about to tell them.
