But thats an awesome list

lol .............. you're funny.

Here I'll post a few of the lesser known ones. We've heard most of the rest 1000s of times.

Tuna .. doing Rev Gary. It's a Piedmont Blues/Gospel thing ..

Big Bill .. (just a basic Mississippi Blues thing)

You have to watch this one too. it's hilarious. Shredders!

Jackson Browne and David Lindley doing Cocaine blues. The move occurs at 5:37, it's just a fingerpicked slide down of the F chord with a hammer on pull off and slide back but it's a really cool sounding riff that's tough to time correctly. If you watch JB is proud he pulled it off perfectly. btw - they're both tweaked. David Lindley is the consummate musician, maybe not technically over advanced, but he always chooses great notes and phrases to play .. like Mark Knopfler, always tasty, never pretentious. .

I'll add this ...we've all heard it but I don't think it's appreciated enough for it's guitar arrangement, and just because it's fun. Listen to (or watch if you have to) to what Tyminski is doing on those low strings. That's fking riffing ..

When you can get thousands of Argentinians to sing your riff, while bopping, you have a riff.

And this ... the whole guitar part is great but the vocal simile backed guitar two part on the intro riff...ie double stop ascending slide, slide back, switch/ascending slide, slide back/pull off, ascending slide, slide back/pull off, switch/ascending slide/vibrato is absolute freaking genius. .. Another tough to time but great sounding riff. It's my vote for greatest r ever. Starts at 0.50 ends at around 0.53/4

And finally Ry Cooder recorded just fking around during Crossroads.. Delta Blues fingerstyle w/slide in open G on an overdriven Tele. IIRC

Just because we all need a little Rage these days ..

On its own not a great riff, but in the context of this song. Perfect. That also describes Morello's playing very well. Always does what the song needs, nothing more, nothing less.

If a great riff defines both a great song and a great artist, then I should think this one deserves to be considered:

. . . and maybe this one:

I still like this one:

. . . and then there's this one, which readily identifies the song:

. . . plus . . .
