“ …the bench is very fun to watch and this team as a whole looks like they’re playing together and for each other, which is a big difference from what we’ve seen since 2017.”
“The four bench unit players that could all be starters on other power conference teams combined for 35 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and five made three-pointers.
In the two games thus far this season, this bench unit is averaging 35.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 4.0 steals, and 3.0 made threes. Compared to last season’s first two games, the first four guys off the bench averaged 20.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 2.5 made threes. That’s a significant improvement.”
In his first two collegiate games, Reneau is averaging 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. He’s shooting 71.4 percent from the field in 16.5 minutes per game off the bench. That’s pretty impressive for a freshman that’s playing behind the potential B1G Player of the Year.
At some point, does Reneau earn a spot alongside Trayce Jackson-Davis in the starting lineup? Plus/minus isn’t tracked too well in college basketball, but according to the Indiana basketball website, Reneau is +47 in his first two games, while Jackson-Davis is just +22 and Race Thompson is +24.
Through the first two games of his COLLEGE CAREER, Jalen Hood-Schifino leads all players in an Indiana basketball uniform in minutes (55), assists (12), free throw attempts (12), and steals (three). Along with that, Hood-Schifino has a plus/minus of +62, which is the best on the team through the first two games — next closest is Tamar Bates at +59.
The scoring will come for Hood-Schifino, but have fun watching this guy make the smartest decisions on offense and on the fast break as the Hoosiers look to have a whole lot of fun this season.
