Any opinions on this?

Re: Justin Faires is his QB coach.....

This guy is a winner. Sign him soon.............yesterday.

What are his stats?

How do they compare to other recruits? He has good size, but for some reason he hasn't attracted a lot of attention.

I'd give him a walk on spot in a heartbeat

He's very efficeint and has a good arm, but yeah that throwing motion needs a lot of work to work in pass happy quick offense.

something like 3400 yards passing and 34 TDs and 11 picks

He can sling it, but he's not really tall and he's got that bad motion. He's smart and good with the ball but we need real deapth at QB, not a project that might turn out with better mechanics. Like I said, he's a great canidate for a walkon spot if he wants to come to IU.

Can he play DB? If not, how bout wr?

If Covington and Diamont are back-ups next year, coaches will have their hands full already with projects.

Baffling. Comparing his video with someone else we

gave a scholarship to last year... just dont get it.

He's the type of kid you take a chance on.....

He's a better prospect than Danny Cameron every was.

Re: something like 3400 yards passing and 34 TDs and 11 picks

Also showed some escapability when needed. But primarily a drop back passer.

Spark...I think its apples & oranges

Cameron's signing happened in July when we only had 2 scholarship QBs on the roster (Tre announced he was leaving in June) and we had no idea that Covington was going to emerge as a credible backup. I would think CKW doesn't want to rely on another project as the primary QB in this year's recruiting class unless he has no other choice.

Re: He's the type of kid you take a chance on.....

Don't think Danny is on scholarship or will ever play.

Re: something like 3400 yards passing and 34 TDs and 11 picks

If he is going to play quarterback in college, he is a D-III or NAIA. Wabash we be OK then. If he is a great athlete, then maybe he could play somewhere else at IU. Would not want him as a quarterback.

Anybody who plays him . . .

had better have a lights out left side of the line in pass blocking. With that ball sticking so far out the back on his wind up, it wouldn't take much for a pass rusher to hook his arm and either strip the ball and head the other way or cause a fumble . . . especially since his long throwing motion takes significantly more time to get rid of the ball.

I'd take a chance on a guy like that only if I didn't have to burn a scholly that I could use on a kid who would project better . . . in other words, I'd give him a Danny Cameron type of offer, really, really late and only if I could chase him away if he didn't pan out - which we can't now that we have the 4 year scholarship commitment.

Sounds like a great kid, but then there are an awful lot of great kids who can't play at this level, and our coaching staff does a pretty good job of projecting those who can and those who can't.
