I play cards every Tuesday night, occasionally a guy plays who a few years back (5 years I believe) lived in Bloomington and worked indirectly with the athletic department. He still knows a few in that department and said everyone he knows thinks Beard has a chance just from rumbling around the office, all he knows thinks that is by far the best hire. He also said these people are in no way decision makers or people of influence but people who have been correct in the past and information they have given has been accurate. I only share because some on here have indicated they haven't heard any rumblings regarding Beard from the University but clearly there are rumblings.
Anyway we both agreed it should be Beard or TJO and that if IU wants to follow up its we are a "blue blood" program they need to act like it and turn a deaf ear to the outside noise. We also agreed it is IU basketball and we won't and therefore it will be a mediocre hire.
Last thing he did say was many of the donors who paid the NIL bill this season were not happy campers, to much money spent on a subpar team. Woodson was almost like a dead man walking after the Bahamas.
