I spent some time reading about Beard's domestic violence case. I get that charges were dropped and she changed her statement stating she wasn't choked during the attack but there was physical evidence of an attack. There a lot's of motivations that could have led her to change her statement. I believe in second chances and I believe he is getting one. While I think he would win big at IU, spouse abuse isn't something that I can look past. He is a pass for me. I would love for someone to change my mind but I really don't want someone with that baggage representing IU. I want to win but not that bad I guess

I have you pictured as a person driving their car by yourself with a Covid Mask on.
That’s my take on your post.

You couldn't be more wrong on that but I work in healthcare. So you support spouse abuse??????
If a drunk athletic woman attacked you and you did everything you could to stop it.
And it all escalated so fast you couldn’t leave. Would you just let her beat the shit out of you?
He has not had any issues since he left Texas, So I say hell yes hire Chris Beard.

I don't think Beard was convicted of a crime. Is this true or not?

Sampson was. We all knew he was a cheater, and the he cheated at IU after people gave him a chance. Beard is doing well at Ole Miss, and I think people see that his past indiscretion as opined by the public are not bearing to light.

Thus, whatever it was, it doesn't seem to be a current matter.

Rumors were Knight stuffed a guy in a trashcan in Peurto Rico, but he was IU's coach for over 20 years after that, and I bet you were cheering for IU then, yes?

I guess the crux of the issue is whether or not she instigated the physicalness of the matter, if so, he was defending himself. Which is something that has been described in this incident.

Winning cure all ills…until you’re no longer winning.

I'm pretty sure it has been determined that he indeed defend himself, but to what extent? Self defense can be fleeing, curling up in a ball on the floor, blah, blah, blah. Did he take it PAST self defense? There are some questions that need to be answered quickly if CB were to be considered (and I hope he is) and some sort of assurances that it was an isolated incident and always to remain that way.

I can't recall the last time I've seen someone use "opined" in a post. Tip of the cap to you sir.

There are a few names being mentioned on boards have some past actions that made the media cycle. It's been surprising that .ore hasn't been made of the current lawsuit against our training staff.

Hell we put the name ‘Cignetti’ on the Marlboro logo with fans passing out Marlboro Reds at football games. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see our own student section in wife beaters.
Lol....I never saw anyone passing out marlboro reds.

Cigarettes are expensive. People don't just give them away to be cute.

I don’t think it’s fair or legally accurate to describe what Sampson did as a “crime”. NCAA rules/ethics violations, while despicable and what let us into the abyss…we’re not criminalfelony charges

If you look at longshot hires; Beard had a personal issue with his wife. If you believe 40% of what you read about Louisville's recruiting episodes, Pitino is a real no.. Way to much baggage.. I like CB & think that he would do well here. We need a Teri Moran type, somebody sharp who has cut their teeth at the lower levels & ready to be here awhile. Changing coaches all the time has not worked in football for 4 decades; pick the right person this time. Not a brand.. Dusty May will be out at Michigan in 3-4 seasons after everybody figures him out. Ask Chris Holtman. He looked good at fist.. A lot of people on this board claimed that we missed on him. We can get CH cheap now & DM cheap in 4 years..

Off topic-I remember last season you had some comments about Swift and the Chiefs. I always liked Andy Reid and like Mahomes but so glad they got beat so maybe fewer NFL telecasts have the Chief Swifties featured.

this is why iu can't hire beard. listen to yourself.

dude, i had clients die of covid. good friend, too. 55. in his sleep.

why have american men become so worried about what other men think about them? and since when is taking care of yourself and others so horrible?

you remind me of the guy i nearly had penned against the wall at the urgent care in Noblesville a couple years back. he was screaming at all the nurses about masks. like a baby.

we can't have beard b/c iu fans have too many dudes like you who just want to flex on anything that tries to help or include people.

it's a huge bummer, man.

I would like to think we can find the right coach without hiring someone with baggage. We hired someone with baggage a few years ago and the results were disastrous

When I was a kid in the 70’s, my parents taught us to never hit a woman. My mom also taught us that if a woman wants to fight like a man, let her suffer a man’s consequences.

Too much toxic masculinity?

You do see some instances where a woman brazenly attacks a man. She does it because she doesn't think he will defend himself or hit back. Now my question would be is Beard the kind of person who would hit a woman when he is sober? Alcohol does play a part in all this. Also does Beard have a history of violence or is this a one time act? Does he get drunk a lot? People can judge others but they have to be reasonable about it.

Too much conjecture. Many here seem to think they know what happened from reading articles or a police report, but there are only 2-3 people who know. That's why I say, consider him (you're not doing your job if you don't), but hire an investigator. If he's an alcoholic and an abuser, there will be a trail and then you don't touch him. If there's not, and you believe his answers when you interview him, he should be considered. IU doesn't need to do more than the Austin DA, and the way our justice system works, shouldn't: Innocent until proven guilty. Our AD's job is to field the most competitive teams within the rules, so not considering someone who is at the very top of the field in terms of experience and success would be dumb.

Every coach who is out there has some sort of baggage . As long as their bad act isn’t a common occurrence , but a one time thing , should not disqualify them . Also those who say that their style of play would not work here , need to realize that good coaches adjust their style to the situation . No matter who we hire some people are going to think it was a good hire , and some are going to find a reason to complain . If the new coach wins the complainers will still complain , just not as much .
