Baseball hosts Pacific

Back at The Bart this afternoon for IU-Pacific's series finale. First pitch at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Pacific gets on the board first. A double in the gap and a bobbled pick-up by Kaletha allowed Sandri to get around from first. Don't think a clean pick-up would have mattered. Tigers lead 1-0, mid-first.

Ricky Renoso is having some command issues in the bottom of the third. Hits Kaletha and walks Matt Lloyd with two outs for Logan Sowers.

Sowers hits a gapper to bring in both runners. It's 2-1 Hoosiers in the bottom of the third.

Tarantino steals third and Sommer walks the batter. Runners on the corners for Pacific with two outs.

Sommer draws a fly ball. IU leads 2-1 heading into the bottom half of the fourth.

Luke Miller grounds into IU's third double play of the day. It's only the fourth inning.

One hair-pulling knack this team has had on this homestand, is hitting into double plays. It was a big factor in Pacific winning that first game.

Another picked off runner. Elijah Dunham is picked off first and thrown out at second. That ends the fourth inning. IU leads 2-1.

Cam Beauchamp in for #iubase to pitch the top of the 5th. Relieves Tommy Sommer. Sommer's line: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 K. Qualifies for the win right now.

Big news: Colby Stratten was not picked off of second base on a Pacific attempt. He gets back safely.

Bradley Jekich makes a hell of a basket catch in right field and Stratten is doubled up at second. Some controversy around whether he left too early and no reply we have seen gives a clear look. He did hesitate after leaving the bag like he was unsure when to go. But that's just speculation.

Luke Miller bobbles a hard-hit grounder at third. Could have stepped on the bag and thrown to first, but after the bobble, he didn't have the time. First and second with two outs for Pacific.

Yes exactly. I don’t understand what is the problem with bunting the runner over to second base.

The lead off batter gets on in the bottom of the third. You have the no. nine hitter up which means the top of the order is coming up and you let him hit into a double play. Cost IU a run later in the inning. Lemon is still makes this mistake too often.

Pacific ties it on a throwing error by Luke Miller. His throw barely pulled Lloyd off first and the runner form third came across. 2-2, mid-5th.

Based on my keen sense of the obvious, our fielding hasn't been exactly crisp during the homestand.

In my opinion, it's been fine but has been tough in crucial times. Such as the Jeremy Houston play Friday.

Great ranging play by Colby Stratten and a nice scoop by Matt Lloyd at first gets Brian Hobbie out of a bases loaded jam tied at 2-2. M7

Miller leads off the bottom of the 7th with a double. Laren Eustace moves him to third with a bunt. One out for Colby Stratten.

IU wastes the leadoff double. Scotty Bradley pinch-hit for Colby Stratten with a 1-1 count and struck out. Jeremy Houston grounded out. Still tied at 2 heading into the 8th.

Kruger's first pitch goes between Ryan Fineman's legs. Allows the runner to advance to third. Fineman's got to block that.

Krueger gets out of the tough jam. He has been solid all season. It's 2-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth.

We have the top of the lineup coming up, it's time to get something going.

Kaletha gets hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom half of the eighth. That's the second time he's been hit by a pitch today.

Matt Lloyd grounds into what would have been the fourth double play of the day, but the Pacific second baseman bobbles the ball. Runners on first and second for Logan Sowers with no outs.

Logan Sowers lines a ball down the third base line. Kaletha scores to take the lead, 3-2. Runners on second and third with Fineman up

Hoosiers get another run. Miller hits it deep to right and it's caught. Sowers scores from third. 4-2, 2 outs. Bunnell at the plate.
