Baseball hosts Pacific

What a deflating start to the homestand as all of the positives coming out of the San Diego series have been canceled out. You can't get yourself picked off at 2nd in that situation. Well, we need to take the next two to get some mojo back.

Total s show at the end.

Not charging balls. Bad defense. Poor throws. From seniors.

This team looks like a bad HS team so far at home. Dropping right outta the top 25, and losing an inside track at hosting a Regional.

In the first couple of home games, we looked like a cold climate team that can't play in cold weather, however, we all know that this is a primarily veteran team that can play better. Clearly, most of the team is in a two-game hitting slump.

We've got another matchup between IU an dPacific starting in a bit. Stay tuned for updates.

Logan Sowers strikes out. He's been struggling recently. His batting average has dropped from .412 to .319 in just four games.

Little bit of confusion in the 2nd. Fineman gunned down a runner at second, but Tarantino had made contact with the catcher on the swing. Runner was ruled out and Tarantino was brought back in with a 1-2 count. He struck out on the next pitch.

Drew Ashley had a nice drive to right field but a nice grab keeps the freshman from recording his first RBI.

IU has gotten a runner to second in both of the first innings. It's still scoreless though.

Pauly Milto strikes out the side, and that's five straight for the junior pitcher.

Jeremy Houston and Logan Kaletha got to first and second with no outs. IU gets a favorable call at third on a double steal. And they still strand both runners in scoring position. That's three straight innings of stranded runners in scoring position. It's still scoreless.

Colby Stratten double sto right center and Drew Ashley was going as hard as he could form first but couldn't get to third in time to make the round. Runners at second and third for Houston.

Hoosiers get a run. Sowers flies out to right field, and Kaletha tags up. A bouncing throw nearly made it in time. 1-0 Hoosiers.

Scoring runs since we returned from California is like pulling teeth. I hope we don't waste another great pitching performance.

Pauly Milto allows his first hit of the game on a deep single by Lucas Halstead.

Pauly Milto gets out of a jam with his 9th strikeout of the game -- tying his career-high. It's still 1-0 Hoosiers going into the bottom of the 6th.

Milto allows a leadoff double. That's his fourth leadoff batter allowed on base. Quite a high number for having a no-hitter through five innings.

Pacific ties the game with a groundout. It's 1-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th.

Hoosiers score. Misjudged chopper by Pacific first baseman gives Laren Eustace a chance to come in from second. He beats the throw, and IU leads 2-1.

Badly thrown pick-off attempt by Shreve allows Houston to get to third from first.

IU gets another one in the 7th. Pacific tries to turn the double play but can't get the ball back to first in time. Houston scores. Lloyd called safe at second as well. It's 3-1

Bobbled chopper allows Matt Gorski to get to first. Bases loaded with two outs for Luke Miller.

BJ Sabol relieves Pauly Milto. Milto finishes with 7.0 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 9 strikeouts, 3 walks.

Lloyd allows two baserunners on. Both by singles, one made contact with him. One out. 3-1.

We didn't exactly tear the cover off the ball, but the way the first two games of the homestand went, we'll take it. Unlike with Stiever, I'm glad we didn't waste Milto's exceptional pitching performance.
