Ballou has innovative approach

With Ballou's ties to IU and his innovative approach I see this as a very good hire. I have seen videos of Dr Rhea giving talks and this guy goes after players weaknesses to improve them. Forty times will improve and based on coach Ballou and Dr Rhea approach I believe IU injuries will decline. I know all injuries can't be avoided but many can be eliminated with proper training.

If we can make our Offensive Tackles quicker, stronger, and much less prone to injury we might just find that we actually Do have an OL we can Win with (I Hope)...
Yes, I'd like to see the same thing with the guards. One of the reasons Coleman was so good outside was that he had a very fleet Freeney pull out there to throw great blocks for him. Love to have guards that can get outside.

If Ballou can put guns on the OL like he has himself I think the league would definitely take notice! :). Let all those guys be the first ones off the bus.

I can't imagine what Caleb Jones is gonna look like. Ballou was probably smiling from ear to ear the first time he saw him. :)

Clear theme: Offensive Line needs to be bigger, stronger, and faster. If that happens, a lot of things then fall into place. QB's look better. RB's get more yds per carry. WR get open more often.

Also on the Plus side of things: Ballou having been a true Fullback appreciates the timing and team work involved to have real Big Ten capable Offensive Line. I think he'll have those guys ready to run block at minimum;):D

He’s the perfect guy for the job. Instead of saying “you’re bad at this”, he asks “how can you improve.” Seems like innovation is going to be key with the lifting program in the future, and that kind of positivity “how can we get you better”, is going to motivate players to improve. Each day will be a learning opportunity. I think that the first step in improving is learning what you do well and don’t do well. It seems as if he will break down players strengths and weaknesses, and maximize the strengths and improve upon weaknesses. That will be critical for young guys like Cam Jones, and even older guys like Brandon knight who have been hurt. It’s exciting to have this strength coach, and I have even more confidence in CTA because of this hire.

When you watch Maryland the thing that stands out is their physical stature on the DL - their "guns" are the thing I noticed about them. I hope Ballou makes our players more physically imposing in the coming years and coach Allen has those players come off the bus first. Our older LBs were more like Maryland's defensive front so as the players get older we should see the results.
