It should be helpful that we spent last week preparing for a 3-4 defense as well. I'm not sure how much conditions played into our in-game strategy but we still should be prepared assignment-wise for what BSU will do. I don't think ND's offensive line (or QB) were at all comfortable with the look they were getting from the BSU defense.Thumbnail Overview written by Nathan Comp of Hoosier Huddle:

From watching the game it was apparent that the biggest issue for Ball State was pressure from Notre Dame's defensive line. Not sure how much that reflects the strength of ND or weakness in the Ball State OL. I think we have to be able to do the same thing. If we can keep Neal from having time to find receivers and still contain Gilbert we should be good. If not, Neal can pick us apart. He's really good when he can hang in the pocket and throw.
Still I don't think this team has great talent at receiver the way their 2008 team did. Hopefully we can cover them tight in man coverage and force Neal to make difficult throws.
Run the ball. Stop the run. Don't turn it over. Everything else falls into place. Football is usually a pretty simple game.
