Let's clear your assertions up a bit. First off, Ramsey was not "sliding". "Lunging forward" is the more appropriate term to use. Sliding involves feet first, which Ramsey didn't do. Therefore, the legal hit by MSU was deemed so by Ramsey not "sliding" and actively trying to gain extra yardage. He is a "runner" at that point and received a hit with a shoulder-first tackle. There wasn't and never should have been a flag on the play. Ball's penalty was unfortunate, I think it may have been a bit of a weak call, but according to how the game is under scrutiny for safety concerns, plus a booth review to confirm, it is hard to argue otherwise.Ball gets targeting on a play where he completely whiffed on the sliding Lewerke.
