The Bad News : read the past 4 and a half days of posts

The Good News:

A) the coaches shouldn't have any trouble getting the players focused on their jobs this week.

B) If you're a 4th stringer you might just get a close 2nd look

C) Either we'll see some major upgrades in our Offensive execution over the next couple of games or we'll most likely see someone else calling the plays at P$U

D) all though it feels worse, its only one L

E) if we get this ship heading the right direction nearly all the TEAM goals are still attainable...

Someone else calling the plays?
As in the OC or the QB?
Or both?
sorry about the multiple posts

back on the rules front, i'd love to see QBs have to call their own plays. (personally, everybody run a crossing route or go long on every play, always worked great for me at the park).

that said, it was one thing when the play was sent in with a sub, but what's going down today with the plays being signaled from the sideline is beyond, beyond ridiculous.

that said, i can't tell you how much i hate, loathe, and despise, the disaster waiting to happen lateral passing game.

as i said a yr ago, were in charge, anyone calling a near lateral pass to the sideline would be immediately fired from their job, (i'd have a clause in the contract), immediately escorted out of the stadium by security, and not even allowed to clean out their desk.

I like the way think but not sure how many realistic options there are for items B and C.

The Bad News was getting crushed in the season opener. Posts don't really matter.

I'm thinking McCullough, Heard, or Wright...

It would be better to just have Sheridan pull his head out of his behind and do a better job... He has enough experience that he ought to be able to fix this hot mess that was our last two outings (Ole' Miss & Iowa)...

I don't think its Sheridan. For most of last year the offense looked pretty decent.

Offensive line was/is a train wreck. Especially on the left side. And MPs first game back was against arguably the best defensive backfield in the BIG maybe the country. He was extremely rusty against the wrong team. That will make any OC look incompetent.

This next game gives MP a great opportunity to "tune up". The offensive line is more concerning to me.

I'd call it 3. Wisconsin 14 points. Deboer gets better every year at every stop. He did more with less. He compensated for his shit offensive line with his game plan and play calling. The occasional trick play too. IU's offensive numbers looked good last year because the defense was giving them constant short fields. Deboer's O's were way more efficient. Sheridan's had how many years of learning here? He didn't need to reinvent the wheel. Dude isn't up to snuff. I don't know if IU could have saved Deboer with a huge offer, but it seemed like they didn't try. They went cheap with the family man. Hasn't worked out for Allen once.

No they didn't. The offense was below average. The defense made them look a lot better than they were. This stuff is above my paygrade, but IU was ranked 79th!

By comparison, 22 under DeBoer. Sheridan does less with more.

You are absolutely right about the defense giving IU's offense short fields which made them look good. The team had a difficult time driving the field and against Iowa it really showed up. I am not ready to write coach Sheridan off yet but he has a lot to prove as an OC this year and the first test was a failure. Don't forget the OC runs the offense in every practice and all week long so he is responsible for the offense being ready game day. Coach Sheridan is a good man and I understand why coach Allen gave him a shot but if he doesn't get this offense to explode and score points then IU needs a new OC.
