At least we weren’t Kentucky tonight…

Which loss would you rather experience again next week (for the first time), tonight's loss or Crean's loss to Syracuse?
Considering that was a Sweet 16 game where we lost relatively close despite absolutely miserable shooting, I'll take more Syracuses every day of the week over a game like this one. At least it never felt completely hopeless the way tonight did from about five minutes into the 2nd half onwards in that one, and again. Plus, that loss came in the Sweet Sixteen, which means that season was a complete and indisputable success by any measure.

(Side note: the shooting was 100% the problem that cost IU that game, not the offensive scheme or Crean somehow not knowing how to beat a zone despite coaching for years, contrary to the narrative common in the fanbase about it. There were plenty of wasted good looks and sets in that game.)

IU didn’t belong in the tourney this year.
As a Purdue fan I disagree. You won some big games and had a very good defense. But you weren't consistent, and suffered from poor shooting. Until I see Purdue get more mentally tough, I done see them going far. But they have enough talent to do some damage. We will see.

Purdue certainly has the horses and caught a huge break with Ky out of their path. If Painter can adjust to the officiating he is likely to see, no reason his first FF isn't at hand.

I have Texas beating them. Strong 6 seed.

They sure got some help with that UK loss. Purdue has the same problem that all the B1G and that UK team has. Guards. Guards win in March.

Hopefully Purdon't goes down this weekend too. Then I can smile and watch the rest of the tourney.

Would it have really mattered when the X & O guy is clearly a effing moron who can't even draw up a simple inbounds play?

From a Rupp Rafter post last night. too funny

In what universe does a KY loss make us a better basketball team?
Please help me understand this with some logic without making a personal attack?
Your insinuation is irrelevant to my post. I made no statement as such. So answer your own question. If you are going to attempt to corner me, you might want to improve your tactics.

Cool story, bro....

Totally a response worth reading.
Shooting was the problem in that game because all we got were contested looks. All the looks were contested because Crean had no idea how to attack that zone. Go back and watch that game - then go back and watch how Butler destroyed that zone a year or two before. Tom Crean was clueless and his ego was too fragile to ask other coaches for advice, or to hire competent assistants.

That year before the tourney I went to the last Georgetown - Syracuse game in DC before Syracuse joined the ACC. Georgetown executed against the zone and won, coached by J Thompson's son. I also went to IU's practice before the Syracuse Sweet 16 game, and saw Crean and JT Sr sitting together chatting for a bit. I thought that was great, Crean would be getting tips for how to attack the zone. Leaving the arena after Syracuse shut down our best team since at least 2002, it was clear Crean didn't ask or didn't hear what JT Sr could have told him. Never forgave TC for that.

Who said it did? Quit reading into a post what is not there.

Misery loves company. Pretty simple really.

Revisionist history at it's finest.

Let's watch Cody dribble into the zone ONE MORE TIME.

Keion Brooks: 0 career wins in NCAA Tournament

Sounds like he's moving on...

Certifiably true: over the last three seasons, IU has more NCAA Tournament wins than Kentucky. (If you need help, last year UK didn’t make it; the year before the tournament was canceled.)

The loss to Syracuse only hurts because it was our only legitimate shot at a title in 20 years. UK has a shot every season. Upsets happen and they’re not a big deal when you’re consistently good.
