revealed he was trafficked to the UK as a child, given a new name and forced to work a domestic servant

His real name is Hussein Abdi Kahin.

I am still in shock and disbelief. Mo Farah is a legendary runner and an incredible person. This new revelation makes his story absolutely incredible.

I read about that also. Astonishing story and can’t imagine what he’s been through to make it where he is today. Anxious to learn more about him.

he's absolutely legendary... can't believe this story has been kept hidden all these years.

Legendary, both on and off the track. And I agree - the most astonishing aspect is how his story is just now coming out.

I know you know this, but for others wondering who he is.... 10 gold medals in distance events at the Olympics and World Championships is unmatched. He won the 5K and 10K at consecutive Olympics. (Lasse Viren is the only other runner to pull that off.) From 2012-2016, he did not lose a 5K or 10K at the Olympics or Worlds. He also won the 2018 Chicago Marathon (in a time of 2:05).

One of the things I really love about Mo is that he is a pure racer. With all of those incredible wins, he has only ever broken three, somewhat obscure, world records: the indoor two mile (8:03.40), the one hour run (21,330 meters) and the 100 meter sack race. (He still hold the indoor two mile and the one hour records - sadly, his sack race record did not stand for very long https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sack_race).

I really hope he is willing to become a loud voice in the fight against human trafficking. But, I will understand if he chooses not to.

Oh, and he will also need to do a prequel to his autobiography after yesterday's revelation.

have never seen an indoor 2 mile race... didn't know that was ever contested. Thanks for the obscure knowledge!! Would love to see him in the sack race

I don't think it's a race that is run very often. In fact, at the elite level, the indoor 2-mile might only be run once a year at the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_Indoor_Grand_Prix). The 3,000 (meters) is the far more common event. Even outdoors, the 2-mile is not run very often, as evidenced, perhaps, by the fact that the current record (7:58) was set in 1997.
