So in NY you attempt to assassinate a congressman and you walk out of jail with no bail.

BTW the opposition candidate is publishing all his campaign events to encourage nuts to do this. It is the democrat way so no surprise. Publish where justices live, kids go to school and when they’re dining out to encourage wackos to assassinate and harass.

We need a committee to investigate these libs tactics on live TV one day a week through the midterms.

Oddly the article doesn't mention anything about " the opposition candidate is publishing all his campaign events to encourage nuts to do this."

You need to also link your QAnon source!

Her office put out a press release encouraging her followers to rsvp for “far right extremist” Lee Zeldens campaign event.

She did post the date and time and encourage her supporters to go.

I don't see anything at all about encouraging violence, or shall we say, MAGA style violence and intimidation. Like against DC police officers

Everything about that release is repulsive. Instead of taking the high road, it appears Dems are trying the lowly Trump tactics. And people wonder why America is circling the drain.

Both sides are guilty of making things worse, it has been the SoP to attack first. Recall Obamacare when congressmen went home for meetings? Limbaugh and Hannity urged people to go and shout them down there were brawls, examples of representatives being hanged in effigy.

That is not to excuse any Democratic behavior, just pointing out the way our lack of civility is not new and extends on both sides of the aisle

The NY law sucks and should be repealed.

The rest of your post is your usual partisan hackery. No one was encouraging a nut to attack Zeldin. Hochul's campaign did send an email, which was a parody of an email generated by the Zeldin campaign. It listed campaign events, dates and times but not specific locations. I don't believe there's any evidence the assailant ever saw the email. But, in any event and last I checked, campaign events are typically advertised - - by the candidate's campaign. There's little point to a campaign event if no one's there.

There was security at this event but obviously it was ineffective.

There's a certain amount of risk every time a public official or a candidate makes a public appearance. Despite your ridiculous suggestion, the risk isn't limited to one party. In recent years, Gabby Giffords (D) and Steve Scalise (R) were critically injured by shooters.

And Brett Kavanaugh (R) isn't the first judge/justice to be stalked in his own home. Two years ago, the son of US District Court Judge Esther Salas, an Obama appointee, was shot to death in the family home as he tried to protect his mother from a gunman dressed as a FedEx driver. The killer, who ultimately took his own life , had also been targeting Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor (D).

Stop the hackery.

And the Fed’s declined to charge the miscreant for the attack on a Republican congressman.

Says who? The US Attorney in the Western District of New York hit him today with a federal assault charge. Additional charges could be coming when he's indicted.

From what I heard from a republican lawyer I know (lol).. it was a with a small object that appeared to be a cat with two pointy ears... Was he going to scratch him to death?

He should be in prison for being a dumb ass, but "assassination"... really?

If you attribute the press release to "Dems," don't you have to also say "GOP tactics," not "Trump tactics?"

The article I read said it was brass knuckles with blades. That picture looks like he has some sort of brass knuckle type weapon with blades. A couple jabs to the neck and the jugular and he could have killed him. That is a lethal weapon.

Nice moving of the goal posts. You went from “I don’t see where the opposition published all his campaign events” to “I don’t see where the opposition was encouraging violence” rather seamlessly.

Nicely done!!!

Yeah, I think we should wait on this one. Especially to throw around claims of assassination or not ...

I've heard everything from knife, to brass knuckles to a plastic key chain. Plus, claims of him being far right and far left ... or just a random drunk.

You would have to think that if it was a deadly weapon and an actual assassination attempt, he wouldn't have been released, right?

Generally, attempted murder is not something where they just say, "it's cool go home, we'll contact you later, try not to kill someone again in the meantime".

Or does that not make sense .. somehow.

Absolutely bullshit. Nice job by you. I responded precisely to this: "the opposition candidate is publishing all his campaign events TO ENCOURAGE NUTS TO DO THIS"

and the link provided no evidence whatsoever that the opposition was encouraging nuts to attempt MAGA-like violence or assassination at all.

We know what makes anyone "loved and special" in MAGA-land. It is when you have the blood of DC cops on your hands and have defecated in the Capitol. "Go home. We love you! You're very special!"

Nationalism, theocracy, racism, misogyny, homophobia, authoritarianism, social and sexual dysfunction, lack of proper hygiene, abject willful ignorance, the inability to differentiate truth from lie, and nut ball conspiracy theories about RFK jr?

Edit: I forgot obesity.

Latest update from The Daily Beast...

I would point out that this video from (left) TYT pretty unequivocally condemns political violence in any form, and is remarkably consistent with what they would say had it been a Dem politician who was attacked...

Now contrast the above video with the Fox equivocation and excuse making for the Jan 6 rioters, which aired after the Hearing this week...

I'd say it's pretty hard to link a currently UNEMPLOYED Iraq war vet, likely suffering from PTSD to somehow being a supporter of Kathy Hochul... Which of her policy positions would you say he was invested enough in to be motivated to want to kill Zeldin? And was it Hochul's press release that misspelled his name, or is that hew work of the twitter twat you linked to?

Progressive Criminal Justice Reform allowed him to be immediately released without bail.

Do you support the policy that led to his release?

Do you really want to pursue this pretty dubious attempt to equate this guy with a state Governor putting out her opponents schedule, which is readily available both on line and in the local area?

Remember this attempt to harass and possible even run a group of Biden campaign staff off the road? Hochul has condemned the attack on Zeldin (as soon as she was informed about it)... But I tried to locate Trump condemning what his supporters did, and I haven't been able to locate it...

I wonder what these "trump train" folks might say motivated them, during their defense at trial?

I think the video I linked unequivocally condemned the fact that he was released. I know this one from CNN did...

I don't live in New York state, so I don't have an opinion one way or another on no cash bail for misdemeanors and non- violent felonies. Here is an assessment of what the law does and does not say...It sounds like it's basically a judge's decision, and whether or not he's considered a flight risk is a major consideration...

And interestingly here is a March account of the fact that Hochul herself has proposed revisions...

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Dorley could have charged Jakubonis with crimes that would've prevented his release from jail.

"In the case of Mr. Jakubonis, the Monroe County district attorney could have chosen to charge him with a violent felony, which would have qualified the case for potential bail, and pushed to keep him behind bars," The New York Times reported.
Legal analysts said the decision looked extremely suspicious.
"NY GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin is blaming the release of the man who allegedly attacked him on bail reform. The man was released because the DA very strangely charged him with a non-bail eligible offense. That DA - Sandra Doorley - is co-chair of Zeldin's campaign," New York attorney Rebecca Kavanagh wrote.
"Can you imagine any other case where a political candidate is rushed onstage by someone with a weapon and then only charged with an E-level felony?" she asked. "By one of the most pro law and order prosecutors in the country no less."

So maybe the prosecutor was trying to play politics with the charging. This will prove interesting.

fwiw - They charged him with attempted assault, not attempted murder. Generally an assassination attempt has murder as it's core objective.

So maybe the prosecutor was trying to play politics with the charging.
Or the claims of assassination and/or deadly weapon, are pure hyperbole.

Until I see the actual weapon used or described in detail from a direct source, I'm very unconvinced it was an assassination attempt.

There seem to be two options, the prosecutor did not think they could make a more serious charge or they thought having him released would be a good campaign issue. Anyone have a third option?

if that makes you feel better, sure. The PR from a sitting governor that only is in the position because of her disgraced predecessor, is very Trumpian in language though.
And I know nothing about the GOP candidate, he probably deserves it. But it’s still repulsive

I feel fine either way. The question is whether you can be taken seriously.

How is Trump anything like Hochul in this regard? I'm serious.

What do you mean?! Even a piece of fruit can be a deadly weapon! Tomatoes, pineapples, bananas - - "You can get killed with those things!"

"It's worse than tomato. It's also other things. But tomato, when they start doing that stuff, it's very dangerous."

Let's emulate our conspiracy theory fans and go off the deep end...

You are running well behind in a race you have very little chance to win... Your camapign strategists come up with a brilliant strategy...

Let's hire an unemployed vet to walk up on stage and "attack" our candidate with a "weapon" that can be purchased at any 7-11. He'll make a few ineffective swipes, which our candidate will heroically deflect. We'll rush him into custody, and the DA who happens to be a member of our campaign will charge him with a 2nd degree non-violent felony, and he'll be released before anyone can look too deeply into the situation...

We'll be able to fundraise off of the claims that we were attacked by Antifa, and also we'll be able to rally support by attacking the "liberal no bail relief policy"...Not only might it help in our NY race, but nationwide we can light the flame of blaming the Dems for all the violent crime...

Of course that's just speculation, and there is no tangible evidence (yet) to support it. But that doesn't stop our Qanon pals...from throwing out wacky theories to see what they can get to stick...

Now if that was the scenario, then you've got to imagine that the decision by the Feds to charge him was not something they anticipated... In case anyone doubts the kind of fealty the MAGA cause can engender...

Don’t pretend that’s not what you’re actually thinking.
