Any word on Malik?

hoping its very short term, anyone hear anything?
I didn't think it looked awful on the play, but obviously him hobbling off straight to the locker room suggests otherwise. Doubtful to me he's playing Saturday. I just hope Ware can play. He was limping badly for the last 6 minutes. Right before that dunk where he really came up gimpy, I was thinking Woodson should've taken a timeout to give him a break and see if he was OK. We had 3 still at that point.

I saw that in Ware as well...I'm hoping he was cramping...

The softest thing about Ware last night was his postgame interview.

He played like a beast last night. Well, OK, he played like a limping beast, but he was still a beast. He set the rules under the basket for, like, the last 6-7 minutes of the game.

I read a post on -town Banners that said that neither player had any broken bones & that Malik could possibly play Saturday. Watching a replay of it & watching him limp back to the locker roommI would be surprised if that happens

Ware was just having cramps in his right calf muscle.

I would bet almost anything both are gone for a while. Also wouldn't be surprised if Ware sets out you know he don't want to get hurt and mess up his draft status which I don't blame.

hope so! My legs used to cramp and it was amazing how quickly it could happen and how painful it is. Sometimes my calf would lock up just going up for a jump shot and would be rigid before I hit the ground. And, I wasn't in the air that long!

I didn't think the sprain on replay looked horrible, but obviously it hurt or was worse than it looked. Reanu is a pretty solid guy, so hopefully will recover quickly.

He played a bunch of minutes. It was a cramp in his calf not an injury. I watched them use a Theragun on his calf in the huddle and rub it out.

Might be first time he played long and hard enough to get a cramp.

Speaking of playing time, I’ve wondered about his time at Oregon. Did they have post players who were just better, was it a hard adjustment to the college game or was he just not motivated? I think his opportunity to further his talent is tremendous. I just can’t see him sitting the bench at a major school.

His development the next several years could be something to see. A good chance it will be with an NBA team, but still, his upside is very high.

Yes, they had an all-conference senior post and a very good backup if I recall. He got sideways with the coach also (presumably over effort), so a fresh start was best for him.

Penn state is not a good team. They will not rush them back to play penn state with two much harder games next week.

Ware is tremendously skilled but unless he joins a team like the Pistons he is a couple years away from playing anything but garbage time in the NBA. I don't know what his NIL money is but he be better off being a college star learning to play under pressure like Big 10 games and spending at least another year adding strength. He can dominate in college but will just get overpowered in the NBA right now.

I think same could be said for Mbako except he could probably handle the physicality of the NBA but his decision making is horrible. He has a lot to learn.

That said. Who knows what these guys will do. Really no wrong choice and options are good to have. JHS went to NBA and is going the don't see the court route. There is always exceptions. Due to injury the skinny Lively at Duke was meh but went pro. Most thought he'd get schooled but the guy is one of the best rookies playing. I wouldn't trade him for any rookie except the French VW.

PSU isn't great...but they handled RU in New Jersey last night. Every game IU has left is going to be a challenge. No pencil-in wins left on the schedule. And there really hasn't been one all season, even during our annual December cupcake party.

It's really hard to predict. I still remember Tom Coverdale in a boot and on crutches between games during his last NCAA Tourney and still he played every game.

He was starting to slide a little in Mock drafts. I was starting to think there was a chance he could stay. But he was dominating against Iowa. That seems like a break through game in terms of effort. He will be gone IMO. He has appealing length and skills despite his lack of strength. He obviously doesn’t have Wemby length. But I don’t think he too far behind Holmgren length.
And he had cramps. He will play.

They had an all conference 5 ahead of him and another post who was highly rated and more experienced also.

Since we are both in the no knowledge zone and predicting; I think Ware is back quickly and Idont think he would tank for the draft to avoid future injury

Ware is a possible with NBA. MM's D is mediocre at IU. He'd be embarrassed by NBA level talent. He may need 2 more collegiate years to learn enough defense.

If you could buy Court for what he thinks he’s worth and sell him for what’s he’s worth…..you would own the mountain

I can think of 15-18 millions reasons why I would also were playing for th NIT which these are reasons I wouldn't blame him.

Dislocated elbow?
Third hand info:
"Bozich confirmed this morning both injuries are considered minor and won’t cause an extended absence for either guy. One of my sources said MR probably could have come back in the game but didn’t want to further the injury so sat out for precaution..."

They had good upperclassmen in front of him. And supposedly his motor was bad.

X sure as heck didn't behave like it was minor.

A lot of wiggle room in "considered minor" and "extended absence" which is probably fair but would have been nice to get a bit more information if they were going to the bother of commenting at all.
