Any reports from game??

Not sure what the stats are, but Sudfeld looked sharp. The..

receivers looked pretty good, too. Certainly better than last year.
Zander overthrew a wide open receiver in the end zone in the first half. I didn't think he did very well in the first half, but he looked much better in the second half with a bullet TD pass. All in all, I thought the passing game was definitely on track again.

It's hard to comment on the running game which looked good. But it always does against IU's defense.

Nate's last TD pass was right where it had to be

Into the corner of the end zone, where only the receiver could reach it. Perfect. Overall, he looked great. By the way, I thought the attendance was better than most past Spring Games. I hope it wasn't just the lure of a free brat or hot dog for the first 3000 fans.

These intra squad games are tough to decipher....

Jordan Howard did not play (elbow) so we did not see our starting running back. Redding played well and appears to be more of a number 2 with good power up the middle. Does not have that break away speed that we have gotten use to seeing from TC. Let me tell you about walk on Alex Rodriguez....good grief that kid could have been one of Hep's 7 blocks of limestone! I seriously doubt he red shirts, appears to be ready now. Simmie Cobbs and Dominique Booth had decent games....no drops. Suds looked pretty good for being off for so long. For the most part he and the wr 's were on the same page today. This o-line will be another top 20 imo. Big, bad and athletic.....Gardner and Herron were tremendous pick ups. The projected starters average 6'5" and 305 pounds. Should be in good shape with offensive linemen as long as Frey is here. On defense, Gooch, Latham and Mangieri probably wished the season started tomorrow. Mangieri looked very thick and strong and was always in the backfield. Latham and Hoff are going to be a load to handle for any offense. TJ Simmons had his knee scoped and was there on crutches. May be a stretch to see TJ in the NFL but the kid has an NFL body. Gooch looked very comfortable and is surprisingly quick for 250 pounds. Of course Tegray Scales was his usual self. The corners are still a work in process, Fant is up to 175 pounds and looks much stronger than last year. Looks like Dutra and Allen have the safety positions locked up. Once again these student athletes are very respectable and giving of their time. Wilson, and other coaches, have done a very good job recruiting good character kids. Tevin Coleman even came over and spoke to the 3 of us. When I asked if I could take a couple pix of him, he surprised everyone and hopped over the fence and stood 3-4 feet from me as I fumbled around with my start phone. I was a nervous wreck but TC remained calm and patient. Good program, good kids, good coaching.....our time is coming.

Re: These intra squad games are tough to decipher....

Nice summary! I was there today, and this post sums it up well.

I got to go on the field and call an offensive play during the scrimmage. Pretty cool!

I agree that the attendance was surprisingly good...

given the disappointing season last year.

Best they have looked in the Wilson era

Defense even looked improved, although honestly it could not be any worse than last year.

Was very disappointed in the attendance. Beautiful day, free food, IU had all sorts of kid-friendly activities in the knothole, etc. But there were not many people....

Re: Best they have looked in the Wilson era

Yes they defense could have been worse. Much worse. Please reference the previous three years {2011- 2013} for worse defenses. They actually improved last year.

Re: As we all know, there is only......

....room for one really bad defensive unit on campus and that exists on the basketball team.

I think our football defense last year was actually better than what they call defense on the hardwood.

There were like 10,000 there.

That's huge for an IU spring game.

Re: I agree....

East stand capacity is 18,198.
It was over 1/2 full.

Was bigger than any crowd I'd seen there in years.

I was in the Stadium Club, and on that side, no one was there...

....everyone was jammed on the student side. It made the crowd look larger than it was by having everyone sit on one side. Actually, BigTen Net cameras were on the pressbox side too, so it made it look better on TV.

Still, there were not many people in the Stadium Club, which was surprising.

They always put everyone on one side.

It was a great crowd for us.

I'd love to get to the Spring Game....

but there is just too much going on with youth baseball and softball that I've just never been able to work it out. I'm sure there are a ton of other guys like me.
