What a mess this kid is now. After blowing it here, getting a shot at ISU and playing all year at Marion, he gets involved with an armed robbery. IMO he singlehandedly cost us 2015 being a special season, but thats minor to what hes now done to himself. After a Bloomington judge feels sorry for him and suspends a 10 year sentence for house arrest, he blows it with another crime. Hes now going to jail for a long time...and an incredibly promising carreer is up in smoke.

All self- inflicted...
Geeesh.....

How does one get involved in an armed robbery when under house arrest? And what does one feel impelled to steal when under house arrest?

Are you ready for this? He and another guy broke into an apartment of someone that knew him mind you and stole a TV, stereo, and...yep...two lizards. They were looking for a gun. Held a knife to mans throat and threatened to kill him and his mom if he called police.

Can you say...loser?!

Now I am wondering what courses he could have possibly passed while at IU. I am guessing they had a significant internet component.

Hope the lizards are ok.

He wasn't the first at IU and he certainly won't be the last to make horrible decisions. Back in the day we had a First Team All-American not even play his senior year due to a head on collision with Jack Daniels:eek:

I need to look back to see who the bleeding heart was that lectured me for stating that Allen needed to go to jail at the time and that it was just a matter of time.

This actually is not a surprise.

As bad as Allens punishment will be, the real kick in his behind is the loss of millions of dollars he could have had in the NFL. He was talented. Now, there is no going back, as if he could have after the first incident. His is a tragic tragic story too often repeated, maybe not with so much at stake.

Maybe going to jail initially might have shocked him straight...maybe not. We will never know. He had it his way all his life from what I hear. Now, this will shape the rest of his life. By choice...but maybe not well thought out eh?

This kids done enough damage. Let it not spread to another that tried to help him. He had a lot of people backing him, thought they were helping him too.

Some people cant be helped...

Sometimes you can't save people from themselves......

Read some of the articles after his initial arrest. There are some adults in Indy making excuses for him. They did him no favors.

House arrest works if the GPS monitor from the bracelet on his ankle is working and the company who supplies the equipment is diligent in monitoring this.
It doesn't necessarily work for people who have an impulsive personality or who are dumb or both.

Plus, the judge said she was so impressed by the number of people who spoke highly of him at his Bloomington hearing that she gave him the benefit of the doubt and lightened the sentence. She told me once that she didn't think prison time rehabilitates wrongdoers, that in some cases it does more harm than good.

The Antonio Allen story is worthy of inclusion in that television show about America's dumbest criminals.

There must have been a number of people at IU that looked the other way or chose not to believe their lying eyes. One does not go into the drug business with the slogan "Open for business but don't tell anybody" His most recent actions indicate that common sense and logic were not his strong suits.

And where does one find a "friend" while under house arrest that says "yeah an armed robbery sounds like a good idea". And robbing someone to get a handgun because a handgun worked out so well the last time for him. And then threatening to kill them if they go to the police - that is the cherry on top.

Was gone all day so I missed this. What a shame. After turning Walter White he's now into knocking down doors and robbery. So many kids wished they had the opportunities he did.

Now he'll join the long list of Kojak Fuller type kids who thought street life was more real. Hopefully the judge doesn't give him a break on sentencing. He deserves every year.

No sane judge who will be running for election is likely to give him much of a break at sentencing.

Abraxis,
I'll sound liberal as hell saying this, but there's little rehabilitation in most prisons. That judge girlfriend of yours is absolutely correct.

They get out, go back to their family, discover upon looking for a job that they can't get one because of their record, then it's a downhill spiral from that point. I know, and I'm sure most of you probably do too, a couple of people in this life cycle. They eventually fall back into the game that sent them away in the first place and end up back in jail.

This isn't rehabilitation....the record stops them from getting a job and the prison system doesn't train them for work after prison. What a repeating cycle we have. If you're in the criminal justice system in any capacity, this is the very flawed and broken system you serve.

I lean Republican but not on this...

At this point I don't think rehabilitation is a primary concern. Or even a secondary concern.

I understand that line of reasoning to an extent for some types of offenses but it is certainly a "carp shoot" for any judge doing the sentencing. I'm sure his IU football player, albeit now former, status allowed some slack to be cut. This second time, I have no mercy. He is no longer to be considered a contributing member of society so lock him up for good before he really hurts someone in a permanent sort of way. This world has enough crazies running around already.

Under the terms of his sentence, Allen was able to hold employment and attend school. He was allowed to attend football practices and games as well.

So basically he was grounded.

“You have a story to tell,” Harper said, speaking to Allen near the end of his sentencing. “You have a story to tell of how you can serve others under these circumstances, and how your life does not have to be the one reflected in (the charges). It can be a life that looks forward, that gives to your community. I’m giving you the chance to.”

Advice he certainly should have taken more seriously:(

For sure. When it gets to this point, it's just a sad thing. You don't feel sorry for the punishment but you feel bad about the upbringing that brought him into thinking those decisions were even valid options. I'm sorry, but I don't know anyone that would consider those as legitimate ways to go about life.

Not so fast my friend. (Who does that remind you of?). The tiltle of this should be Antonio Allen arrested again, again.

I completely missed this:

Apparently after the infamous 2016 lizard burglary where he threatened to kill the victim if they said anything WHILE HE WAS UNDER HOUSE ARREST, he still managed to avoid prison. Last summer he was arrested a third time for being in violation of his parole and he was carrying a loaded weapon.

I hope the coaching staff keeps a very short leash on those that get second chances.

duh!

stuff for the house.

That is humorous but I have to wonder what compelled 82h to dig up a December of 2016 thread to comment on...???

While there's always the potential for problems with any large group of 18 to 23 year old boys/men it at least appears to me as though character is a major factor in our recruiting these days.

AA is fortunately far in the rear view mirror.

Everyone (including a couple of Judges) was fooled by the guy and tried to bend over backwards to help him. He chose to live the "Thug" life. Good luck to him
and better luck to whoever he's attempting to rob next...

Don't think he had very good role models growing up either. Not trying to excuse what he has done. But some patterns are hard to break.

I was on off the internet most of last summer and was not aware of the most recent 2017 incident. And then today, after years on this site, I finally saw where the search button on here and started to explore. There were two articles last August on the premium site about this but nothing on the free site. So I thought maybe people were not aware.... Incidentally his younger brother had just been seriously wounded in a drive by shooting when he was arrested at work carrying a loaded weapon.

I had got to thinking about this after Saint Urban’s recent news releases. A lot of coaches are now on the hot seat for activities by players, and now asst coaches, that are far away from the playing field. I imagine that most programs choose not to look too hard at a lot of off field activities. Rightly or wrongly the trend is to make the coach more responsible.
