IU Soccer, Swimming and Diving, and Baseball rock!
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa . . . there wouldn't be enough to fund the other men and women's teams. If those all matter in supporting the financial stream for IU’s athletic department, you might have an argument. Probably how the university thinks as well. If that is what matters, let’s do the right thing and join C-USA or the MAC and play in a conference more our style.
You keep saying that but the big ten never asked UW and NW to leave even though they were horrible in both sports for years. I was born in 1970 and UW and NW was terrible until the mid 90's so why were they not asked to leave.IU very lucky it has not been asked to move out of the Power-5. Not really conference worthy at this point. Gross mismanagement at the highest levels.
Any other legitimate school would not allow a continuation of the complete incompetence in the bread-winning sports at a “flagship” university.
OSU, Michigan and Wisconsin would never allow it. The first sign of trouble with the team performance, they shut that sh$&@ down really quick.
The simply don’t allow it. Meanwhile, Mr “P.T. Barnum” parades around with his array of PR tricks, makes terrible coaching hires and sells everybody on the future.
Wisconsin was nothing before Barry Alvarez and now they are excelling in both sports and Barry “gets it” and won’t accept mediocrity in either sport.
IU has MAC tastes on a Big Ten budget. It’s a shame.

diving? who cares?IU Soccer, Swimming and Diving, and Baseball rock!
What's the correlation with being born in 1970 have to with it.You keep saying that but the big ten never asked UW and NW to leave even though they were horrible in both sports for years. I was born in 1970 and UW and NW was terrible until the mid 90's so why were they not asked to leave.
Just pointing out that those schools were bad for over 25 years and were never asked to leave the big ten. What's the correlation with being born in 1970 have to with it.
Hahahahahaha! With that...time to renew your season football tickets is already here!
Im on my 2nd or 3rd reminder email!
If I had to bet; I would bet we go to a bowl vs an NCAA bid.Hahahahahaha!
I would be thrilled with IU football going to a bowl next season, but that is about as likely as a meteor falling from the sky and destroying my house. IU basketball has a better chance of qualifying for the postseason next season than IU football going to a bowl.
Different times, things and priorities change.Just pointing out that those schools were bad for over 25 years and were never asked to leave the big ten.
Um....the real P5 teams need the W'sIU very lucky it has not been asked to move out of the Power-5. Not really conference worthy at this point. Gross mismanagement at the highest levels.

I bet on basketball with Archie over football with Allen. Allen will likely never take IU to a bowl before he is let go.If I had to bet; I would bet we go to a bowl vs an NCAA bid.

That's where we come in

Can’t believe my son, who I certainly encouraged to go to IU, probably won’t see a single tournament game or winning football season. Not one. Power 5s don’t put up with that. This is way deeper than a bad year or two.IU revenue sports are failing, badly.
Some good points but I respectfully disagree on the too far down part. A university cultural shift would work. Of course, back to your point, not sure in this day and age if the university itself is willing or able. You keep saying that but the big ten never asked UW and NW to leave even though they were horrible in both sports for years. I was born in 1970 and UW and NW was terrible until the mid 90's so why were they not asked to leave.
It’s a completely different era. That was a time when conferences were completely geographically aligned and it was also about academic alignment.
If you had told somebody in 1975 that Rutgers and Maryland would be playing in the Big Ten (or Penn State - still East Coast market), they’d look at you like you were from Mars!
As the network deals, apparel contracts, money expanded, sports entered an entirely new realm. It could be on the verge of super conferences where a conglomerate of top 25 football teams compose one group and all of the others realign.
IU is pretty much gone from both major men’s sports. They are too far down to make a comeback in this day and age. If IU was in a major, metropolitan market instead of Mayberry, IN or didn’t share the state with 2 other major universities, I might say they have a prayer.
Unfortunately, the university is on its Bataan death march in sports.
