Seriously, isn't that a threat to passenger airplanes? The smaller business jets can easily fly at that altitude and I'm sure that balloon doesn't have call sign which is how air traffic control radar works.
Apparently not. Which, if you think about, makes sense. Planes have to be designed to safely crash into the occasional bird, so a small balloon probably is no big deal.
There is a lot of empty space up there but if it gets into/ follows a Victor airway, the chances go up.
