A new day. And no evidence of anything.

Good. Or bad.

So yesterday we had (on one of tOS's) an alleged insider staking his board reputation (ahem) that Crean was out and a Donovan was 99% done. Then we had a claim here that Crean was out and Alford was the leader for the gig. And of course we've had Doyel, Kravitz, etc, claiming all along that Crean is going nowhere. And then we have Crean out recruiting last night with a smile on his mug. What does all of this tell us?

Nothing.

Putting aside all of the rumors and alleged inside info (which is often at odds with other inside info) there is no evidence to support any particular theory. Tea leaves and smoke that can be read however one wants? Yeah. But nothing concrete. No announcements from the AD. No votes of confidence. Business as usual.

There really are only three possibilities.

1. Crean is indeed gone, but no announcement will me made until (a) after the NIT, (b) after the details of the separation are finalized, or (c) after Crean announces a new job.

2. Crean is staying. Glass thinks that injuries wrecked a promising season and believes Crean is the guy (or alternatively, Glass simply can't get his guy now). An announcement will be made once extension and contract terms have been finalized.

3. There has been no decision yet, thus, nothing to announce.

So which is it? Hell, I don't know. There are people claiming everything. None of it coming from anyone who'd actually know. I'd put the odds at (1) 50%, (2) 40%, and (3) 10%. But that's just a guess. As I said, outside of board groupthink, there's no evidence supporting any particular theory.

It's Sunday. Maybe by this afternoon we'll know. Probably we won't. Maybe we'll still be wondering and arguing next October.

Or maybe today is Scott Skiles day.
